This was my first book by Paige Toon and definitely will not be my last. I loved it! This is a contemporary fiction/romance, and I thought it was really well written.I would have loved to catch up with her too,’ I say, and it’s true. Once, my high school bestie and I were inseparable, but now an entire year can go by without us exchanging a word. It’s not that we meant to grow apart, we just did. I actually spent 3/4s of the book thinking something had gone one way and when it was made clearer and I realised I was so wrong - man the tears! It just changed everything! A great but sad little twist.

The story focuses around Leah the daughter of parents who foster time after time. The main timings in the book are now and then with some in-between and a little after now. Unlike some books that jump a little this one flows well and adds to the mystery and depth of the story.

I loved seeing all the various bonds being formed in this book in both timelines - there is just so much love and compassion to go around it was really heartwarming.Paige also did an amazing job describing some of the realities of the foster care system ... positives and negatives!
