About this deal

The point here is, if you need color accuracy to work with the media edition, this is not the monitor for you, and the LG 34WP85C-B is right now at a better value and has great colors for its price range. By the way, assuming you aren’t comparing both 100 percent of the time, the colors of this display are very acceptable, and they are even better than some of the usual screens in the price range such as the LG 34WP60C-B. The Dell 34 Curved USB-C Monitor (S3423DWC) does a fine job as a combo productivity and gaming monitor, although as noted earlier, there are better choices if your focus is either task. IDC Whitepaper: “Optimizing Performance with Frequent Server Replacements for Enterprises” commissioned by Dell Technologies and Intel, March 2021. Results are based on interviews with 18 IT practitioners and decision makers at midsize and large enterprises and a web survey of 707 IT practitioners and decision makers at midsize and larger enterprises using Dell Technologies server solutions across 7 industries. Details here intel.com.au/smestudy When it comes to color fidelity, however, this monitor holds conventional values. It supports 16.7 million colors, which isn’t the finest number for this price range, but it gives you a decent color variety.

Speaking of FreeSync, the S3422DWG offers FreeSync premium but is not certified to work with G-Sync on Nvidia cards. Many of the monitors I've reviewed work with G-Sync anyway when forced on in the Nvidia control panel, and for the most part, Dell's offering worked with my Nvidia card – albeit with some quirks. At the native resolution of 3440x1440, for example, Nvidia's Pendulum Demo worked decently well – but if I dropped down to a different resolution, I would notice a fair amount of stuttering and tearing, even though G-Sync was enabled. I haven't experienced this on other monitors, so it's worth noting, since it could be indicative of less-than-perfect compatibility, and you may notice some quirks in certain games depending on your settings. FreeSync worked beautifully when connected to my AMD card, however. Dell S3422DWG - Gaming is a commonly used number for ultrawide displays, and it is mostly targeted at those who want smoothness in their daily lives but don’t need to play competitive games. We’ll get further into colors and image accuracy in the image quality section, but for now, you should note that this monitor has very washed-out colors out of the box. Of course, you can tweak them to look a little bit better, but it will hardly meet the requirements for professional use even if you do so.To test the panel in this monitor, I used an X-Rite i1Display Pro to measure a series of patterns in CalMAN Ultimate, alongside some by-eye tests with patterns from Lagom and Blur Busters. It is right now one of the favorites, while the VA panel is left in the shadows due to the well-known downsides that can make it a very risky choice if you are unaware. If you compare the out-of-the-box colors of this monitor to those of an IPS panel, the juxtaposition of both is so massive that even though these aren’t the worst VA colors, they could be called washed out. Of course with some tweaking they could be way better than this, so be sure to do that if you buy this screen. Win from any angle: Game in comfort for extended periods thanks to a new slim, tapered stand with easy height, tilt and slant adjustability. The angled base provides sturdy support and a smaller footprint, allowing you to be closer to the action. Or is it a professional one? That’s what we’ll look for in terms of overall image quality. Out of the box colors indeed looked washed out. However, after calibrating it with the built-in macos functionality (it took 20 seconds), it is completely another story. Most of those people who feel disappointed, I suppose that it is likely because they did not know that they had to set it up correctly. Of course, every panel has its own tier, varying from low to high end. Naturally, high-end VA panels will be better than low-end IPS panels in almost all regards. But that is not the point here. When we talk about those panels in an equal measurement, assuming both are mid-range ones, the IPS is the one that comes out ahead. on Dell internal analysis using publicly available specs in August 2023 comparing maximum effective capacity for PowerStore 1200 and FlashArray //X20. Assumes average 4:1 data reduction for PowerStore, 5:1 for Pure Storage. Actual results vary. In today’s post, we’ll look at a 2021 ultrawide Dell release with mid/high-end prices and see if it’s on par with those. the curved screen makes it easier to sit closer to the screen without hurting your eyes, and while the colors don't go very dark, lighter off-whites are very easy to spot. i can't wait to use this for digital drawing. All other products will be delivered via the fastest available method (excluding bank holidays and weekends) and generally within 3-5 days, depending on customer location. Of course, due to its flat base, you can put some things on top of it. But we can all agree that piling things up on a monitor’s stand will only make your setup look disorganized. Mar 2, 2023 Update: We compared this one to the LG 34WP65C-B. We also compared its prices and features to a bunch of monitors in the same price range. Corrected Typos, and added further information in all sections. According to Dell, the display covers 99% of the sRGB color space. As you can see above, it did even better in our tests, spanning 99.8% of the gamut. I also measured it as covering 88.3% of DCI-P3, a color space commonly used in digital video, and 87.8% of the Adobe RGB gamut frequently used by professional photographers preparing images for print.

More detailed, stunning colours: Vertical Alignment (VA) display technology delivers an expanded contrast ratio of 3000:1, together with 99% sRGB and 90% DCI-P3 wider colour coverage, so you can see rich colours, greater depth and a wider range of shades. During the night this brightness was more than enough. Even at 80 percent, it was just fine for our tastes. Of course, as we all mention in other posts, a VA panel often makes better use than the others of a good brightness ratio. That said, it does have its benefits over the IPS, and those are generally why some people still prefer this panel, even if it means having to bear with all of the downsides mentioned above. So, if you need an ultrawide monitor but aren’t sure if the DELL S3422DW is the best option right now, keep reading to find out who this monitor’s target buyers are. Let’s get started on the DELL S3422DW Review without further ado. Unlike the stand of the majority of ultrawide displays, the dell s3422dw one includes two options of support: tilt and swivel. These are two of the most typical adjustments for ultrawide monitors in this price range.

Cables

The DELL S3422DW is a curved monitor with a 1800R of curvature, which is slightly higher than typical for 34-inch ultrawide displays like this one. Even with mid/high-end costs, they elected to use the VA panel for this monitor, which surprised us. This is an excellent choice for those who require a high contrast ratio, as it typically exceeds the average when compared to other panels. To reinforce this, they chose a color gamut of 99 percent RGB, which is clearly not the ideal choice for a VA display like this one since it produces less vibrant colors, which would be better for a contrast-focused panel like this one.
