Cronin, Brian (April 12, 2007). "Comic Book Urban Legends Revealed #98". Comic Book Resources. Archived from the original on July 31, 2013 . Retrieved December 18, 2010. In terms of looks alone, Ronin remains a triumph. Miller was so far ahead of the curve that most artists working today are still playing catch-up. Yes, he was a shameless borrower, from Gōseki Kojima, Moebius, José Muñoz, and everyone else who caught his fancy. All these artists exist within Ronin; the end result, however, is something fresh. Miller synthesizes his influences into a style of his own, moving swiftly between different modes of expression throughout the story. There’s a swagger to Ronin, a kind of ‘look at the stuff I can do’ that’s replicated in all aspects of the work. Even John Costanza’s lettering, these big and oft sharped-edged balloons, calls attention to itself. Ronin wants to be noticed. You know what, it's very easy to agree with him,” DiDio says while laughing. “He loves to talk character and story, and honestly, we just sit for hours talking character and story and ideas, because it comes so easily to him. Gainax Ending: Virgo is destroyed, possibly damning the entire human race. Casey certainly has little to no protection in the harsh New York environment and then Ronin comes marching through the flames. Not only is the Ronin identity supposed to be dead but Billy's fate certainly seemed sealed as well since he committed seppuku and was left in an exploding building. Not only that, with Virgo gone, who is controlling him? His blank stare at Casey doesn't make things seem any better. The end.

The Reveal: Ronin, Agat, Ozaki, and the sword don't actually exist. It was all a part of the TV show Billy watched in his free time. Virgo used Billy's powers and mental state to make him turn his fantasy into a reality, essentially turning himself into a hero and creating his own villain using his powers and Virgo's biotech. That way, she could easily manipulate him into doing her bidding. This would eventually lead to the destruction of mankind and the emergence of biotechnology as the dominant lifeform. Sabin, Roger (December 15, 2002). "Take a picture..." TheGuardian.com. Archived from the original on March 29, 2016 . Retrieved August 30, 2012.In 1994, Miller became one of the founding members of the comic imprint Legend, under which many of his Sin City works were released via Dark Horse Comics. [62] In 1995, Miller and Darrow collaborated again on Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot, published as a two-part miniseries by Dark Horse. [63] In 1999, it became an animated series on Fox Kids. [64]

a b " Daredevil by Frank Miller & Klaus Janson, Vol. 1". Goodreads. n.d. Archived from the original on April 12, 2016. Best Writer/Artist (single or team) – 1986 Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli, for Daredevil: Born Again (Marvel) Miller's work on Daredevil was characterized by darker themes and stories. This peaked when in #181 (April 1982) he had the assassin Bullseye kill Elektra, [26] and Daredevil subsequently attempt to kill him. Miller finished his Daredevil run with issue #191 (February 1983), which he cited in a winter 1983 interview as the issue he is most proud of; [20] by this time, he had transformed a second-tier character into one of Marvel's most popular. Additionally, Miller drew a short Batman Christmas story, "Wanted: Santa Claus – Dead or Alive", written by Dennis O'Neil for DC Special Series #21 (Spring 1980). [27] This was his first professional experience with a character with which, like Daredevil, he became closely associated. At Marvel, O'Neil and Miller collaborated on two issues of The Amazing Spider-Man Annual. The 1980 Annual featured a team-up with Doctor Strange [28] while the 1981 Annual showcased a meeting with the Punisher. [29] Thomas, Michael. Retrieved April 26, 2013. [The Occupy movement] is a completely justified howl of moral outrage and it seems to be handled in a very intelligent, non-violent way, which is probably another reason why Frank Miller would be less than pleased with it. I'm sure if it had been a bunch of young, sociopathic vigilantes with Batman make-up on their faces, he'd be more in favour of it. Daniels, Hunter (July 23, 2011). Mann, Ted. "Frank Miller Doesn't Think Much of Occupy Wall Street". Archived from the original on February 6, 2012 . Retrieved February 20, 2012. Ronin is, despite all this, a very good-looking comic. Some of the credit for this goes to DC’s production department and printers (and to Miller for insisting that it be done this way), but a large part goes to the colorist Lynn Varley. On the evidence of Ronin, Varley is, quite simply, the best colorist in American comics. Most other colorists have, when confronted with the full process separations, tried to do the artist’s job for him by playing around with modeling and airbrush effects, while ignoring the fact that the greatest benefit of the full process is the acquisition is a more varied, and therefore subtler, palette. Ronin was in part inspired by Kazuo Koike and Goseki Kojima's manga series Kozure Ōkami. [3] Though Kozure Ōkami would receive an English localization several years later as Lone Wolf and Cub, at the time Miller could not read the text and had to rely on the artwork for his understanding of the story. [1] According to former Marvel Comics editor-in-chief Jim Shooter, Ronin was originally slated to be released as part of Marvel's Marvel Graphic Novel series. [4] Ultimately, however, Miller was persuaded by publisher Jenette Kahn that DC Comics would give him as much freedom as he desired for the series, [5] and DC published Ronin beginning in 1983. Manning, Matthew K. "1990s" in Gilbert (2008), p. 253: "Frank Miller made his triumphant return to Elektra, the character he breathed life into and then subsequently snuffed out, with the graphic novel Elektra Lives Again." I'm hoping that it creates some awareness to these characters and excitement for the books,” DiDio says. “Frank is doing the NFTs for The Geek, and Daniel is helping build out this incredible amount of NFT material featuring all the characters of the series.” DeFalco "1980s" in Gilbert (2008), p. 226: "'Born Again' was a seven-issue story arc that appeared in Daredevil from issue #227 to #233 (Feb.–Aug. 1986) by writer Frank Miller and artist David Mazzucchelli." Frank's writing in this is amazing. He creates many, very unique characters and he makes them all talk in a kind of different way from one another. The story is captivating and filled with plot twists that are able to blow everyone's mind. A specific part of the story that I liked is the marriage between the main guard of the corporation and the main scientist. It's shown very well how they have marriage problems, mostly due to their work and how through the years they've lost the affection they had for one another.
