About this deal

A few weeks ago I passed a friend in the street who was inflating his car tyres on his driveway witha RING Automotive Air Compressor RAC900. He was eagerly showed me his new tyre pump which was powered by his car battery. He explained that it had the advantages over other tyre pumps because it: Thanks to its preset pressure function, you can adjust it to your desired levels and the unit will inflate and switch off on completion. It also has a handy memory feature that remembers the last programmed tyre pressure, reducing inflation time and making it faster and easier to get all four tyres up to the correct pressure levels. The Ring RAC700 4×4 Air Compressor weighs a hefty 2.091kg and measures 175mm high, 200mm wide and 130mm deep. On the downside, there is no bag or case to store the included adapters. Also, this Ring model does heat up after several minutes of operation, although this is fairly common with compressors. Lastly, the air cord is a little short.

Inflating a motorhome tyre with a portable 12 volt compressor is likely to burn out the motor before the tyre is up to pressure. And it will take an eternity. Inflating at 30psi is one thing: inflating at 60psi quite another. I've owned 12V tyre-pumps that have inflated the tyres of my cars easily and rapidly from, say, 25psi to 30psi, but have either refused to work at all, or took forever, when asked to put a couple of psi into a motorhome tyre at 60psi. To be honest if I faced a total flat then the associated whole issue of me doing the spare wheel change and inflation at the roadside is now something "management" would veto, and it becomes Green Flag's task. The RAC830 Caravan and Motorhome Rapid Digital Tyre Inflator is ideal for campervans, motorhomes, 4X4s, SUVs, caravans, minibuses and vans. Once connected, the LCD screen indicated the PSI on my Citroen C1’s front right tyre in a matter of seconds. Target adjustment was another painless process as only the middle dial needed to be turned for me to reach my desired PSI target.Although the report is 5 years old, it's worth noting the test criteria. These were a) the accuracy of a pump's own gauge at 30psi and b) the increase in pressure in psi that a pump was able to produce with 50 'strokes'. Additionally, it comes with an LED light complete with three modes, so you can use it to warn ongoing traffic if you are in an emergency situation. Under the base, there is a well-designed cord storage area that prevents too many kinks from occurring, as well as a handy area to store the included nozzles and adaptors. Welcome to Hankintech! That’s equivalent to 5 car headlamp bulbs of 55 Watts each. This is much more than a cigar lighter which is often 180Watts. And it’s continuous throughout the time you’re pumping the tyre.

The underlying concept is good advice, but I would use a pair of Anderson, standard grey SB50 connectors, and include an adequately rated fuse close to the positive battery pole. https://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/Tyre-valve-extension/50787/

Designed with one-button control, it is straightforward to use and comes complete with three accessory adaptors. With a respectable maximum pressure of 80 PSI, a 2.9-metre power cable that connects to your car’s 12V outlet, and a 48cm air line, this mini tyre compressor is a highly functional piece of kit.
