About this deal

This...is...absolutely...BEAUTIFUL! This is definitely a woman's perfume, not a girls perfume, at all! This is super sexy and sophisticated! This reminds me of the strong business women of the 80’s. With their designer outfits, shoulder pads, big hair, brightly coloured makeup and a real “I am woman, hear me roar” attitude when they stride down the halls of a workplace, as you hear their high-healed stilettos crash like the sound of glass breaking with each step as a reminder that they can put you in your place, even if you’re a man and fire you on the spot, so watch what you say and do...as they fill the air with RED each time they rush by! The notes are very well blended and balanced. The difference between Red and anything else I own is that the base is heavy. Most all of the frags I own have a toned down, smooth, and sometimes creamy base. Again, no surprise given the number of notes in each of Red's category. I feel sexy, demanding, confident and maybe a little bit older beyond my years whenever I wear Always Red. I don't reach for her often because she is definitely not a day time scent for me, so a bottle has lasted me a long time. I get rich, luscious plum, smooth creamy praline, something masculine and smokey hidden under the initial sweetness to balance everything out and then a woodsy Amber drydown. Heavenly. I definitely recommend this scent only if you can handle a strongish fragrance...definitely not for the faint of heart. The dry down is still spectacular and I have to say, on me, it's soft and still the holds the same smell....I don't smell fluctuations in the quality or the notes at all - at least on me.

It’s a peculiar scent in that it’s hard to classify as a fragrance personality. The incense squares it into “oriental” but it’s too soft and plush to play with carnal scents like “Tabu” or “Bal A Versailles”, though it seems like it should command a room with the same confidence. Right after spraying, Red is way too sythetic smelling on my skin, and it tends to smell quite a long like this when smelling up close the wrists. However, thenice fragrance cloud it creates around me is beautiful with the above mentioned slightly chypre-like character and oriental spices, fruits and flowers. It comes close to being too cloyingly sweet for but finally the notes balace out nicely.Sprayed it on, went for my power walk and then went shopping. I'll wear this baby when ever and wherever I damn well want On me, this is a boozy, woody praline perfume. Not too sweet, rather strong and assertive. Definitely giving Mugler vibes, but in an easier-to-handle way (this is no Angel), BUT -having said that- this perfume is definitely not for the faint-hearted! Thus is for people who enjoy loud perfumes, who want the world to know what they are wearing. You will get noticed with this one. At first usage, Always Red is not the type of perfume I would normally be drawn to as I gravitate to lighter, fresher, cleaner fruity florals such as Gucci Guilty, Dior Blooming Bouquet, Lancome o d'Azur and Acqua di Parma Colonia. So, if I had sniffed Always Red in a department store perfume section I may have avoided it, also because it's a bit reminiscent of Alien, which is so horribly ubiquitous and which I absolutely detest with a vengeance. It has to be the patchoopy that's similar! However, I'm very glad I did risk blind buying a bottle as it is growing on me after 12+ hours of wear on the 1st day.

The performance is excellent. It easily lasts all day (10+hours) and has moderate to strong projection for more than half of the wear. Even once it settles it still projects within arms length. When I have applied it for the evening, it is still present on my skin the next morning and in my hair and clothes until they are washed. It's still a powerhouse perfume and I love it for that! Same notes and that same beautiful, gorgeous and sultry fragrance I always remembered.

The first time I smelled Always Red I noticed the similarity to Armani Si. The note breakdown is very different between the two, but they still seem to smell very similar...especially in the drydown. Always Red is much brighter and syrupy in the opening and mid, while Si has a woody note that is present throughout that I never notice in Always Red. It is even a little more similar to the Si Intenses and le Parfum which are all fruitier, though darker and richer than the original. Let me give you an advice: do NOT blind buy this one! The way this perfume expressed itself seems very reliant on skin chemistry.
