About this deal

Will jokes to Alison that Nicos must get a lot of practice with women. He is later found to be cheating on Alison during the skinny-dipping scene. If I had to justify why I loved this film with one sentence, it would be this: at no point does it stray from the formula that made the show so refreshing. The humour is there, as are the scenes of incredible social awkwardness, but this consistency begins with proper characterisation. Every fan of the show has a personal favourite, and should be pleased to hear that their move to the big screen has not coerced creators Beesley and Morris into thinking they should customise the characters to suit a wider audience. By the end of the film, each of the four is in an inherently better position in their life than they were two hours ago, but how they all get there remains entrenched in typical Inbetweeners fashion. Early in the film, Neil, Simon and Will dance across the floor of an empty nightclub to chat up the girls while the reluctant Jay merely watches them from the bar. During the Good-Times Montage after the group have made amends, we see them performing the same moves in a crowded club, with Jay joining in. Jay offering Will his bed when the latter is drunk. Will had been about to go to sleep on the very ants' nest Jay had slept on the previous night.

A successful sitcom series in the UK, The Inbetweeners movie is like the final hurrah for its television episodes, which follows the growing pains, life and times of a group of four secondary school friends and their families, with American Pie styled sexual shenanigans and Brit humour. Even if you may not be familiar with the source material, the movie version is quite stand alone, taking place just after their graduation, and like all graduations, it's not complete without that holiday trip with your pals, and in this case, a vacation filled with booze and sex and doing just about anything that nobody will say no to. Country Matters: Jay calls Carli a 'cunt' as he and Simon are arguing. This prompts Simon to take a swing at Jay. Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Neil at the end when he realises Nicole is waiting for him at the airport. He runs off with Lisa, leaving his luggage with his dad and Nicole is left confused.Everyone Can See It: That Lucy, not Carli, is the right one for Simon. Of course, Simon doesn't see it until the end. Vacation Episode: Obviously. Almost the whole film is set in Malia, with only the first few scenes at the start and some of the post credits scenes occurring in the UK. Will's dad. Who is revealed to have left Will and his mother to marry a woman barely older than Will. He insults Will, his hobbies and casually admits he didn't invite him to the private wedding, containing a mere 'couple of hundred' close family and friends.

Will is technically correct when he says a girl in a wheelchair doesn't really need her own sun lounger and that her family aren't automatically entitled to poolside seats just because she has a disability, but even Will himself obviously realises as he says so that you can't just say that out loud. Jay sort-of does this with Simon. Presumably he thinks it will snap him out of it but instead it hits a Berserk Button. Blake Harrison was great as Neil Sutherland and is everyone's favourite slow, perverted 18 year old. All the characters were hilarious and amazing and brilliant. Other than Blake, other leading actors' acting was pretty mediocre. The villain-esc character was very weak. Personally I was glad to see less of Greg Davies as I'm not his biggest fan and pleased to see lots of Joe Thomas, who has the cutest butt. He always makes me laugh, because he is so much like my friend Simon anyway. Also an example of Hand Wave - Simon just says "not moving to Wales" in the opening minutes to brush it off. Jay says this when his mother and sister catch him masturbating. It's a little hard for him to explain because he has diving gear on his head.

Would Hurt a Child: Jay throws a kid who can't swim into a pool for earlier pushing him into the pool and later on, de-pantsing him in front of the entire poolside. That said, the kid was acting like a little shit by continuously harassing Jay and so arguably had it coming.A more traditional variant also occurs when Nikos is found cheating on Alison and ties to lie his way out of it.

Yet there is much more to it than that. The friendship of the group, and within the group, is showcased (particularly as regards the way in which it changes during the film) and each member of the friends develops, learns and goes forward. And that is one of the main joys of the film - it provides a sensitive and realistic way for The Inbetweeners to be brought to a close - life goes on, our four protagonists go on but, more importantly, they go forward. They are more equipped to take on life than they were before, and all through the teen lad excesses of drinking too much and chasing girls. Jay's "No problemo" to James during the boat party nods to how Neil had this as a temporary catchphrase during "A Night Out In London". Jerkass Realization: Simon gets one during the boat party when he realizes Carli is using him to make James jealous. He finally sees Carli for what she is and admits that he made a bad choice in robbing Lucy of her chance to attend the boat party.
