About this deal

Have you found any other gluten free Easter eggs or noticed any changes to this list since it was published? Two companies - Mondelez and Nestle - get our worst rating for palm oil for using unsustainable palm oil.

Sascha Macchi, Senior Brand Manager for Rowntree's said: "If we had to sum up our Randoms Squidgy Swirls in one word, it would be scrumptious! Our newest chews are deliciously fruity and creamy-tasting, with an immensely satisfying squidge. They make a fun and playful treat for fruity chew lovers of all ages!" It was a bit more of a plain flavour, a more basic, cheaper chocolate, almost. It wasn't off-putting, but could have been better. The breakability was good, though, the chocolate was a little thinner than the Cadbury egg and broke easily into lots of smaller pieces.Whilst many dark chocolate Easter eggs will be vegan, the following brands are made by vegan companies: The ‘fast start’ phase focuses on shoppers looking for small treats for themselves, such as Cadbury Creme Egg and Cadbury Mini Eggs. With about three-quarters of shoppers who buy Easter confectionery early intending to buy again, it is important to have the products they are looking for to meet these consumers’ shopping expectations.”

If you're going out of your way to buy a Galaxy Easter Egg, personally I think it's only justified that you expect the chocolate egg to be made from Galaxy, not the same plain, underwhelming chocolate you get in all other Mars Inc Easter eggs. I was really disappointed because I had high hopes for this egg, and then I realised I'd bought an Easter Egg pretty much identical to the last, give or take the chocolate that comes with it.

Maltesers Teasers

Getting into the taste, the chocolate tasted good, it had a bit more of a snap to it than the Cadbury chocolate egg, but had a good sweetness to it. It did feel like it was missing something compared with the Cadbury egg, though. The flavour for the egg was good, very similar to the chocolate you would find on KitKat bars, it has a sweetness to it but still a rich cocoa flavour. It was the second-best tasting chocolate egg, behind Cadbury, and was a nice surprise. Nestlé eggs used to be a bit underwhelming but it looks like they've improved the taste a bit. The lead up to the Easter season is one of the busiest periods for the factories and production runs for 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

In 2012, Nestlé Confectionery UK becomes the first major confectioner to remove plastic from all its Easter eggs, creating the first 100% fully recyclable rangeThe Kitkat bunnies are quite nice, too. The chocolate is nice, like the egg, with small pieces of wafer inside them. Would I rather have actual Kitkats in the Easter Egg? Of course. But it's a nice addition that makes it feel more like an Easter egg. All of the Easter Eggs in this section of guide, at the time of writing, are gluten free, dairy free and safe for people with coeliac disease. You can never assume anything is safe but this Easter egg guide should help you navigate the best choices for gluten free. How to use my gluten free Easter eggs guide Available in milk chocolate and caramel flavour sharing bags, Aero Melts will be available in supermarkets and convenience stores nationwide from the beginning of February. The following brands get our best rating for palm oil for either being palm-oil free or using sustainable palm oil: I'd still give it a solid 7/10, just for presentation of the interior, the better value for money, and the chocolate on offer was still nice enough and enjoyable. Galaxy Enchanted Eggs Last but not least, we have Nestlé's KitKat Easter Egg. This box consists of an 150g chocolate egg and two 29g KitKat bunnies, coming to 208g overall. The chocolate egg comes in at 795 calories, made up of eight recommended servings of just under 100 calories. Each of the two creme eggs come to 177 calories, which comes to an overall amount of 1,174 calories per box. Obviously, this isn't to say that you should avoid eating chocolate this Easter weekend, but it's always good to have it as part of a balanced diet. Important note: In 2022 the Mini Eggs Bar was gluten free, but now (2023) it has a 'may contain' warning and is NOT suitable for people with coeliac disease)Additionally, Cocoa Loco, Divine, Booja Booja, Moo Free and Montezuma are palm oil free companies whilst Plamil get our best rating for palm oil. Cadbury's Creme Egg Easter Egg is a staple, and it's clear to see why (Image: Corey Bedford/LeicestershireLive) Cocoa farmers are almost all extremely poor. Cocoa can only be grown in tropical countries, and it is almost entirely grown by smallholders. The bulk of production is in West Africa, with Ivory Coast – the biggest exporter – producing 43% of the world’s supply. Ghana is in second place, and produces about 20%.
