Enable ‘Impact LX**’ (Windows) or ‘Impact LX** MIDI1’ (OS X) for your Impact. The mode should be ‘Enable+Control’. The other 2 Impact ports should remain disabled. (See Image 2 for OS X setup and Image 6 for Windows). Nektar released two dynamic and expressive keyboard controllers — Impact GX49 and GX61 — that offer better performance with the computer music system. With no fuss or complicated setup, Nektar products are designed for seamless DAW integration. Press ‘Shift/Mute’ + ‘Patch > (Setup)’ on the LX+ series to exit setup mode (again, press ‘Setup’ for the original LX). Nektar makes your life simpler since this keyboard controller has few knobs and buttons. It features 61-note (five octaves) full-sized, velocity-sensitive keyboard and seven transport buttons. These buttons can also be assigned to MIDI messages which can be used with any MIDI software that’s not supported by the Nektar DAW Integration.

If you installed our Reaper support files before starting Reaper for the first time and find that your Impact controller is not listed in Reaper’s Control Surfaces menu, please follow the steps below. The GX49 is also good, but I think I need more keys for better and easier production. On the aspect of functionality and performance, these two are comparable. Of course you can use Impact GXP like any other standard MIDI controller with all the features you’ve come to expect. Once you import or save your patches into Nektarine, you can take things further: Each plugin has its first 10 patches available on Impact GXP’s buttons right away. All other patches are available using the Data Encoder. Although the keys are amazing and playable, the sound it produces isn’t that loud.
