Although the spirit inside of Golden Freddy is named Michael Brooks in The Silver Eyes, the events of the novel, while considered canon by the creator, is an alternate continuity to the game series. However in the Freddy Files books and Freddy Fazbear Pizzeria Simulator, it’s revealed that the spirit inside of Golden Freddy is named Cassidy. A year later, twisted versions of the Freddy's animatronics are committing a series of murders, which have as their mission to catch Charlie. At one point, one of them (Twisted Freddy) manages to catch the girl and her friends do not know where they are. Then John proposes to ask for help to the animatronics of the restaurant, since he thinks that they were not discarded at all; effectively, Clay Burke reveals that he kept them in his basement, since he neither dared to disarm them nor leave them free, however, they had not shown signs of life since then. They rushed to the doorway to meet her just as she walked in. Arty seemed confused, his mouth opened slightly and his brow furrowed. John watched for a steady moment, then turned away decisively, facing across the table with a grave expression. He didn’t speak until Arty met his gaze. “That’s not Charlie.”

Her spirit still lingers in the house as she observes her family mourning her loss.The thriller can be a little bit confusing in places, however generally the writers did an outstanding job converting Scott’s first-person horror games to a tale ripe for the cinema. John, Jessica, and Clay Burke went to see Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, and Golden Freddy inside of Clay's basement to save Charlie from William Afton (who is now referred as Springtrap), Twisted Freddy, Twisted Wolf and Twisted Bonnie. When John crouched down in front of Golden Freddy ,and he saw a little spark of light. John knew that Golden Freddy was still possessed by their old friend Michael Brooks and the children that were murdered by William Afton. When John tried to convince the animatronics to help them find and rescue Charlie, he had mentioned Afton's name. The four main animatronics suddenly began to twitch and shake violently on the floor. When they return to the ruins of Freddy Fazbear's, Charlie and Jessica find Afton's rotting corpse inside of the Spring Bonnie costume, stuffed inside of a small closet, by the animatronics after dragging him off a year ago. Disgusted and convinced he was dead, they leave. Later, Twisted Wolf and Twisted Freddy surrounded Charlie, John, Jessica, and Clay Burke. Charlie asked the animatronics "What do you want from me?", and William, undead and still inside the rabbit costume, replies that he was the one who brought them there. John is a keen observer between his surroundings, he deeply cares for Charlie, always offering her support even though the situation is difficult to vigorous. He seems to be wise on his age, he can be often be quite sarcastic between his anybody.

Jessica later follows the fake Charlie, who reveals herself to be Circus Baby and is captured by her and brought to Circus Baby's Pizza. She forces Jessica to perform surgery on a weak William Afton who has escaped the Spring Bonnie suit. Jessica completes the surgery and is thrown into a room where the recently captured kids are being held. That night, Charlie, Jessica, John, and Carlton return to the restaurant, accompanied by their friends Lamar, Marla, and her 11-year-old brother Jason.Marla later appears at the hospital with John, Jessica, Charlie, and Carlton where Clay is recovering from his brutal injury. When the doctor says Clay will be okay, everyone is relieved except for Charlie (Baby in disguise). The doctor then tells everyone to leave. Some time later, she and Carlton meet up with John and Jessica, they think of a plan to know where real Charlie is and to stop William. When they go to Clay's house and to his basement, they discover the animatronics and the Golden Freddy costume, totally immobile. John starts talking to them, then they realize that the animatronics turned their heads in the direction of the young man and that Golden Freddy's suit had given off two white lights in the empty basins of the suit; showing that Michael and the rest of the children still possessed the robots. When John mentions the name of William Afton, the animatronics go mad and flee violently into the woods, including Golden Freddy that disappears. The kids reveal to Jessica, that they were the ones kidnapped, suddenly a mangled Funtime Foxy comes in and takes one of the kids. Jessica and the three remaining kids stay in the room terrified, until Marla and Carlton show up to rescue them. Marla shoves the illusionary device into Jessica's ear, as Carlton goes to find the taken kid. Marla, Jessica, and the three kids run to the exit, however they are being chased by Funtime Foxy. Marla and Jessica try to fend the fox off from harming the kids. Later Marla and Carlton go to rescue Jessica and the three kids. Marla shoves the illusionary device into Jessica's ear, as Carlton goes to find the taken kid. Marla, Jessica, and the three kids run to the exit, however they are being chased by Funtime Foxy. Marla and Jessica try to fend the fox off from harming the kids.

The protagonist of The Silver Eyes and The Twisted Ones, she was killed by William at Fredbear's Family Diner, while her and her twin brother were hiding in one of the closets playing with costumes.Afton is described as being larger around the time that the serial killings occurred, but he eventually lost that weight while in his Dave Miller persona. Jessica, in the final chapter, meets up with John, Arty, and Marla, as the four of them are talking about Charlie's death, just then "Charlie" but in an altered appearance comes in the diner, as Jessica and Marla happily run up to her. However, Arty and John remain at the booth confused. Though not outright stated, it is implied that Micheal took the form of Shadow Freddy that led John, Jessica and Clay to the underground pizzeria that Twisted Freddy took Charlie to. To speed up the process, William captures the original animatronics and fuses their endoskeletons together, rendering them unable to move and ready to be used for experimentation, involving melting down the endoskeletons to see if they would bring life to the Funtimes. One of these experiments involved heating up and injecting a glowing liquid from the endoskeletons into his new Funtime animatronics, which animated them and gave him full control over them. Another involved Elizabeth surgically removing organs from his body and smashing them into the endoskeletons, hoping for some kind of change. They discover the still-functioning control panel which makes the robots move, and Charlie finds a fourth robot - Foxy.
