In terms of power, I was able to run HIFIMAN Arya, Audeze LCD-2C, and even Rosson RAD-0 from XD-05 Plus. Describing it as perfectly neutral but with a lot of meat and impact behind would be most accurate. It has excellent control, but the soundstage is not the widest ever, giving the impression of a sound that’s warmer than it actually is. There’s a slight warmth in the midrange, but the treble has a smooth texture, and a mellow presentation. The bass is hard and hits deep, everything quite characteristic of the AK DAC chip inside the XD-05 Plus. To handle different types of headphones, the Signature has three modes switchable via controls on the sides. The power mode handles sensitive headphones and IEMs with a substantial drive requirement, while the turbo and eco mode fares well with high-impedance headphones and IEMs. And the normal mode is for medium sensitivity outputs. The DacMagic Plus’s mix of I/O make it a good fit for a wide range of applications. It’s great if your digital music listening happens on a computer, but you can use its balanced outputs to connect it to a high-end set of speakers. If not present , some of them will sound veiled or with a fog or distant and not so dynamic . Even the sound is perfect, really dynamic, punchy and authoritative, especially if you enjoy a slightly smaller soundstage and if you’re looking for a personal experience, it should be perfect for you. As is the case with all the inherently balanced designs of FiiO (and not only) like the Q3 or the M11PRO while the single ended out is already good enough it is the balanced that it is exceptional and of the utmost quality. It should definitely be at your shortlist as it is one of the best available options at the market right now but even if you already own a Q5s then we suggest that you should try the separate AM3D module despite its dated micro usb port. We are not necessarily fans of the THX technology but we surely are of FiiO's implementation of it. Further sound tweaking can be achieved through the FiiO Control app with the fully customizable equalizer and the six different low pass filters. I can't say that the Fiio Q5s-TC is completely better ( or worse ) then the Chord Mojo , a lot of factors play big in synergy in medium-high level gears and where one goes well with an headphone, the other goes better with another .

You will probably have to use EQ though, to lower the treble if you want to listen little bit louder.

Q5s-TC plays bass deep and articulate , with little less resolution then the Chord Mojo for textures ; the quality of bass is dry , precise , deep , not meddling at all with mids , can reach a quite decent feel and compression : as to vibrate headphones pads on cheeks ; as well as a thrilling soundcape where it is ambience bass. This DAC can also play DSD (Direct Stream Digital) files, the highest quality digital audio format available right now. This functionality is enabled by the pair of AKM AK4493EN chips inside, which FiiO says create a “pleasant yet detailed” sound profile. This DAC will sound great out of the box, but there’s also a Bass button to add more low-end frequencies if necessary. Drums parts are completely intelligible even with pieces that have very high b.p.m. , and when bass is slightly upped or equalized too; when you are listening to drummers that are the most talented in the world and often overdue theirselves , telling if it is a crash that played , or the other , or the ride cymbal inside a fast multi-tempo controlled chaos of a drum solo inside a piece is fast If the FiiO E10K was a massive success, the FiiO K3 seems to be more discreet. It got an AKM AK4452, a Coax/Optical output, an unbalanced/balanced output and most of all, its footprint is even smaller than the FiiO M6. The ergonomics are good, but you should know that Q5s needs some space. This being said, it needs less space than TR-AMP, which has that volume knob that needs to be protected, but needs similar space as xDSD from iFi which also tends to get a bit warm during usage, and may heat up if placed inside a pouch.The bass was stronger and had more punch / presence with the older Q5. Q5s tend to be more linear, and this may be caused by the fact that the older AK4490EQ chip sounded fuller and more punchy in all implementations, than the newer AK 4493EQ. To put it better, it is not the presence that was changed, but everything is softer, including the hard edges on textures, which makes music more musical, and more pleasant to listen to, more natural. In return, this also kills some of the impact and punch the older Q5 had. 1 We get about +6dB of extra bass with an added mid bass rise and a slight decrease in overall clarity. xDuoo XD-05 Plus + iBasso SR-2 (250 USD + 500 USD) – With SR-2, I was once again surprised by the bass! It is so nice and natural, with excellent reach and depth. I always wanted to give SR-2 a bit of punch, and XD-05 Plus helped a lot with that, and even took me by the hand to show me what SR-2 can do. It transformed a natural sounding headphone, to a basshead one, without ever distorting the sound, and all while having excellent detail. The build quality of the XD-05 Plus is insane.
