About this deal

Cabbage family crops are some of the tastiest veggies a gardener can grow. Often referred to as brassicas or cole crops, examples include arugula, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, kohlrabi, radish, rutabaga and turnip. Wildlife can be at risk from poorly erected and managed garden netting. Very fine mesh, such as insect-proof mesh or horticultural fleece, is one of the safer options, but it is essential to secure the edges of the mesh by burying under the soil or anchoring to a ground level board half sunken in the soil. Birds in particular can become entangled in loose netting which may result in their death or injury. Sustainability Ultra-fine Veggiemesh insect netting is a top-quality ultra-fine garden netting. It works the same way as standard Veggiemesh, but it has smaller holes which enable you to grow fruit and vegetables free from insect damage including flea beetle, allium leaf miner and whitefly damage.

Although the 7mm mesh netting is small enough to keep out the cabbage white butterfly, it will also exclude a number of bees and other beneficial insects which help with pollination. For protecting vegetables that require pollination we would recommend removing the net during the flowering period or that you chose a larger mesh netting such as our 20mm x 20mm diamond mesh bird netting. The cabbage white larvae in particular can make the leaves of a healthy brassica crop look like a lace doily in no time. Using either a soft butterfly netting, which is easy to drape over frames, or our rigid plastic mesh butterfly netting will help your say goodbye to skeletal leaves.Slugs can be an annoying problem for many types of plants. They are nocturnal and happily eat the plants’ leaves while no one is watching. Using Cabbage Netting will reduce your expenditures on agriculture. To prevent insects, you had to use pesticides in the past, but now you can use Cabbage Netting. It will reduce the use of chemicals so you may save money. On the other hand, the use of chemicals is hazardous for health and the environment. When you use Cabbage Netting instead of chemicals, it will be advantageous for nature and us. Peas – young shoots and pods prone to being eaten by birds. Tall 6 foot A frame with bird netting draped completely all around with no openings for birds to get trapped inside. The pea plants generally don’t reach 6 feet but this is so that the plant tends to stay inside the cage and not poke through and out. Any stems that do make it through I consider ok for the birds to take. Soft to the touch but definitely hard on butterflies, this netting is the ideal material to keep your home-grown vegetables and brassicas in particular caterpillar-free.

Cabbages can be eaten raw or cooked, and are a key ingredient in many delicious dishes, including sauerkraut, coleslaw and kimchi. They are great in stir-fries and easy to sauté or steam, and can be used in soups, stews and other hearty meals. As well as being tasty, cabbage is rich in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fibre. Description} This insect mesh netting, Veggiemesh® will protect your crops against cabbage root fly, carrot fly, cabbage white butterfly, pea moth, leek moth, cutworm, onion fly, leaf minors and many other insect pests.Versatility: While cabbage netting is primarily used to protect cabbage plants, it can also be used for other types of vegetables that are susceptible to pests and environmental factors. It is also suitable for use in greenhouses and other indoor growing environments.
