About this deal

Panasonic OS-CON caps totaling 5,410uF give very-low Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR), excellent noise reduction capability and frequency response characteristics. In addition, OS-CONs have a long-life span and its ESR changes little even at low temperatures since the electrolyte is solid.

Large Appliances - (Washing Machines, Dishwashers, Fridge Freezers etc). Free Local Delivery Service (Cumbria, SW Scotland and NE England*) 2-3 working days. Compact enough to use as a USB DAC/amp on your work desk and stylish enough to use at home with your favourite active speakers or amp, it delivers a level of specification and performance that punches above its super-affordable price tag. By the way, if you still decide to have a Core Decoder like TIDAL do the initial decode of the MQA file, then use the Zen DAC V2 as a renderer, you will get the same magenta light that was present on the original Zen DAC.Ifi Hip Dac: Both devices have similar price range but sound very different. First of all, the hip dac presents a more weighty and accented bass response, mids sound very sweet and delivers a more dynamic sound. Voices are also more accented and overall the mids are more colored compared to the Zen Dac. Treble also has a forward and more engaging representation compared to the relaxed, neutral and smooth sound of the Zen Dac. We familiarise ourselves once again with the Zen DAC’s clear, tonally even-handed and insightful sound – all pleasing characteristics that we’re happy if not surprised to hear materialise in the Zen DAC V2’s performance when we switch to it. We hailed the Zen DAC for offering a significant upgrade on a computer’s audio quality for not much money, and the Zen V2 achieves that to an even greater extent. Indeed, what’s most pleasing is that iFi hasn’t launched a pricier sequel that only brings subtle improvements. Bass: presents itself well defined with good texture and control, the both Sub-Bass and Mid-Bass are respectively clean, nothing is emphasized until you hit that Xbass button. Yeah, I was one of those kids. I passed first semester Ear Training in a single week. I have always had the ear for the subtleties in music. One of the more basic exercises is a simple tuning test. The subject must listen to a series of pitches all within a few 'cents' of each other, and must match them exactly with no assistance. Only your ear can be your tool. The ZEN DAC V2 offers superior performance for its price, matching similar but more expensive equipment. It has an incredibly low noise floor, the sound was clear, detailed and very pleasant. It has a sound signature that I would define as natural, I do not feel that it has colored frequencies or additions that modify the experience.” (t ranslated).

Since this thing has no power button, it will power off with my PC or maybe i will unplug the USB on a non-IEM day. What makes a “good amp” can be different to many people. For me, the measure of an amp is how evenly the unit amplifies the source material, how cleanly it amplifies, and how well it maintains the original “integrity” of the dynamics, spacing, and separation within a soundscape. (Staging, or whatever term you wish to use.) The original and new Zen V2 DACs both seem to be competitive for their price points for all of the aforementioned characteristics. I wouldn’t call either Zen DAC exactly “reference”, but they aren’t that far off. I’m going to say that I hear a little added coloring, (Slightly on the warm side) but both offer high quality and I consider a “fun” sound.

Via the Balanced out, the Zen DAC V2 had way more than enough power to drive these planar cans, producing a nice listening volume at about a quarter-turn of the knob.

According to iFi, “The full benefit of the ZEN DAC Signature V2’s balanced circuit design comes to the fore when it is connected to an amp or active speakers equipped with a balanced input. This can either be a 4.4mm Balanced input or stereo XLR inputs via a 4.4mm-to-XLR cable.” A rumble filter simply adds to the bass cut making your already “cut” records sound bass light. Plus, it “time-steps” the bass in relation to the higher frequencies (where our hearing is most sensitive) so much so it can confuse the ear into believing the bass is playing out of tempo. iFi solution: Compare the iFi with price rivals and it’s clearly up there with the best when it comes to sound quality. But it also offers a degree of versatility that those rivals don’t. If you’re looking for a well-built, budget desktop DAC, this iFi should be top of your list. When using additional power supply there is a slight bass boost , maybe 1-2 db at max, very slight to hear iFi Zen DAC V2 review What Hi-Fi? Awards 2023 winner. An Award-winning budget DAC/headphone amp, improvedGL-850 – Moving up a step, the GL-850 was especially nuanced. (But it took more of the volume overhead than I was comfortable with.) Listening to “My Immortal” again, the song’s soundstage felt dynamic and had very good left-right soundstage size. The treble felt slightly forward, but this could also have been due to better detail retrieval and imaging. Detail and clarity were clearly the best so far. The iFi Zen is a USB only DAC headphone amplifier combo intended for desktop use. It has many of the features iFi DAC amps are known for but at a reduced price and with a different look from iFi’s past products. The Zen Dac presents a warm-neutral sound that matches especially well with bright and neutral sounding headphones. When I look at the spec sheet of ifi Zen dac, I see that the PCM over USB specs are not higher than what the specs of the dac chip itself states.

Zen DAC V2 + Zen Stream: the perfect match? iFi Audio Zen DAC V2 + Zen Stream: the perfect match?

If you already have the zen dac v1 i find it not worthy to buy the second version unless Tidal and the mqa technology are important for you, if thats the case, i can fully recommend the Zen dac V2 because the performance using MQA and tidal is exceptional and achieves its main purpose. Attachments

AAW AXH (balanced): Now i'm a b*tch and swap to the 4.4 connector. Audible hiss, no more silence at zero volume. I really should use this IEM unbalanced only. Without the bass gain the sound is much more realistic, it still a warm and bassy sound just how the fidelio sounds but the zen dac helps to achieve a less aggressive treble.
