The horizontal “rotating basket” is good for things like Chips / Fries. “Oven Chips” seem to work fine as these are already “oiled” but IMO, deep fried chips take a lot of beating! If you like “Oven Chips”, you will probably like them done in the Air Fryer.

We anticipated that Toast would need to be placed at the higher position (nearer the heating element) and would need turning and this is correct. Depending on how you like your toast, it should be possible to achieve what you like by amending the time and / temperature. It might need a bit of experimenting but if you only want 2 slices of toast, it will do the job. Cooking 2 slices of toast takes a similar time to using a pop up toaster but the toast is “crispier” and more like the “slate” that I used to love in my younger days. You can play about with the time and temp to get the toast how you like and I don’t think you will be disappointed but it’s likely that a pop up toaster is easier! Sausages cooked in the Air Fryer are awesome, you don’t need to keep turning them. A typical “fat” sausage will cook to perfection in about 15 Mins and you can turn them occasionally if you want. The “spit roasting” facility should allow you to cook all sorts of meat and veg to make maybe kebabs, you are only limited by your imagination! To be honest, this seems to be a common problem with budget air fryers that I have had experience with. Forget turning on the oven to cook the big Sunday meal – make the main elements in an air fryer. Use a microwave to heat the gravy rather than on the hobMake homemade Christmas pigs in blankets easily by using your air fryer. If you like, add flavourings such as sage leaves The bad cooking performance of this Uten makes me wonder about its energy efficiency, as it is a 1700 watt unit. With this rating, I would have expected it to be able to maintain a good cooking result.

Preparing more than 2 lbs (~1 kg) of frozen french fries in one go is perfectly possible here – without any compromises! Having the shake reminder on board is a really nice thing, and it proves itself to be especially useful when you leave your food cooking for the full 30 minutes and you need to be reminded to mix it up halfway through, at the 15 min mark. It seems that Air Fryers come in 2 guises. The popular ones seem to be those that are basically a “round” device that look similar to a large pan or Dutch oven, with or without some sort of rotating tray / “basket”. Simple and Clear Operation: Hassle-free button operation, two buttons can make the dishes you want. Seniors even kids (over 10 years old) can smoothly operate the Uten air fryer. Make a better life Instruction manual very thin and doesn’t give you any information on all its operation, so difficult to navigate. Feels very trial and error. It’s good to have the glass door to see how the food is cooking rather than opening each time and letting heat out.

For a family of 4 and above, if you’re prepared to make some sacrifices and prepare your meals in more than one go, the Uten air fryer will be perfect for you. It can fit surprisingly large amounts of food. In the box, besides the Uten 1088TS air fryer itself, you will find a simple separable grated cooking tray that is meant to be placed under the food you’re air frying, as well as a metal stand for layering the food inside the appliance. This is where the hot air is exhausted. It comes out low to the counter, so be sure that nothing heat-sensitive sits right behind fryer. This Uten 6.9 qt / 6.5 l air fryer is one of the biggest air fryers we were able to test recently. Its capacity is certainly more than that of your average air fryer, and its overall size does reflect that as you can see on the image above. The four buttons along the bottom of the display are a pause/play button, a power/start button, a presets button, and a shake timer button. The two up/down arrows on the left and right adjust the temperature (left) and time (right). We love our air fryer. Living in central Florida, where temps and humidity levels regularly simultaneously run in the mid-90s all summer means that we don’t like heating the house by cooking in the oven. An air fryer lets us cook for two with minimal excess heating. I was curious whether this Uten unit would displace our incumbent fryer. This may not be a big deal for you, but it is a big deal for me. I want crispy air fried food in the shortest time possible.Very happy with my air fryer. Looks nice on the side and cuts your cooking time down significantly. Can cook loads of stuff.

We only have a small kitchen but decided to see if we could find an Air Fryer that could “potentially” replace our 4 slice toaster and use this space. We could then put the toaster away but not dispose of it (its a good toaster and fairly new). An aside – I’ll apologize for the photos and reflections. This thing is super glossy everywhere and it is all but impossible to photograph it without distracting reflections, given that I don’t have a photo studio with totally seamless walls and ceilings. REVIEW – Most of us are trying to be a little more health-conscious these days. Usually, eating healthier means giving up fried foods. But, they are oh, so delicious! Air frying otherwise deep-fried foods helps make them healthier by significantly reducing, and in some cases, eliminating the oil or fat used to fry. OK – nobody is saying that air frying turns tots into health food, but if it can cut calories and fat from a tot and still produce results that resemble dropping a basket of them into hot oil, what’s not to love? What is it?The foot print is not much bigger than a 4 slice toaster but it will certainly change the way we cook. It won’t replace the Gas oven completely but will replace some of the things that we use the “Combo” Microwave for. The beauty of the Air Fryer is that unlike Microwave ovens you can use metal cooking utensils but you can’t use plastic utensils. It won’t beat a Microwave for speed of cooking but for things with pastry, it beats the Microwave hands down and that includes a combo microwave, without a trivet to raise the food! When running this air fryer alongside my Philips air fryer, I noticed that the outside of the Philips model will only get ever so slightly hot to the touch during cooking. The Uten, on the other hand, gets pretty hot to the touch. Not enough to burn yourself, but considerably hotter than the Philips. This tells me the insulation (and possibly energy efficiency) of this unit is not good. The basic info doesn’t seem to be included with the user manual e.g. which of the 3 shelf positions do you use for cooking certain foods and how long you need to cook stuff for. There are several “preset” options, which can be amended to suit but which shelf position to use seems to be a bit of a guesswork. The temperature and timer display is located on the front, just above the basket handle. You’ll see that in the video below.
