About this deal

Families can talk about why the witch allows so many animals to join her on the broom? Was it wise of her to add such a load? How do the animals interact? One of my television songs, A SQUASH AND A SQUEEZE, was made into a book in 1993, with illustrations by the wonderful Axel Scheffler. It was great to hold the book in my hand without it vanishing in the air the way the songs did. This prompted me to unearth some plays I’d written for a school reading group, and since then I’ve had 20 plays published. Most children love acting and it’s a tremendous way to improve their reading. But after a while, the wind starts playing havoc and every now and then, some thing or the other goes flying off the broom, which causes them to make many pit stops! But at every stop they make a new friend, who wants to tag along, and the witch obliges, much to the chagrin of her cat!

Animated film based on the wonderful children's picture book written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler. Animated film based on Julia Donaldson's picture book. A kind witch invites a surprising collection of animals to join her on her broom, much to the frustration of her cat. More This simple, yet effective, Halloween activity gives littles the opportunity to make their own broom and practice their fine motor skills. They’ll practice threading beads onto pipe cleaners which can then be used as bookmarks! The kids love this story. They have watched the show over and over and love the book. They both gave the book 5 stars, which might not be fair, but they love it. They can practically recite the lines of the book. Still, it's the first time to read it for all of us. Anyone with small children (and older ones too, I'm sure) will be familiar with Julia Donaldson, in particular The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo's Child, which - along with Room on the Broom - have been made into animated films that regularly show on the ABC. My son, at three, enjoys the books but finds the movies too scary - he's still young like that.A kind witch invites a surprising collection of animals to join her on her broom, much to the frustration of her cat. The gang ultimately saves the witch from a fearsome dragon, and in gratitude she rewards them with a magnificent new broom which has room for everyone. The new ‘owners’, including a witch, a cat, a dog, a bird, a frog and a dragon, took up residence this April. The advert, however, was a PR stunt. The historic building was never for sale. Rather, Chessington used the property listing to highlight that it was replacing the spooky-but-fun Hocus Pocus Hall, which operated inside Burnt Stub Mansion in the heart of the resort from 2003 onwards. Its successor is an equally family-friendly walk-through attraction. The Gruffalo effect

The animals are all very dedicated to the witch, who in turn is generous to allow the dog, bird, and frog to join her on the broom. Start early by teaching preschool students how to properly sequence events in a story. Use these simple cutouts and have them practice their gluing and cutting skills along the way. The guests then land in a swamp, but the wand has been eaten by a bullfrog. Everyone needs to work together to feed the bullfrog by touching the fireflies when they light up. Eventually, the bullfrog gets so full he burps and reveals the wand. Originally a half-hour special on BBC on Christmas Day 2012, Room on the Broom is zippy and sweet and the perfect short video for kids of all ages. Narrated with verve by English comedian/filmmaker Simon Pegg, the movie faithfully follows the book's plot. With its memorable rhymes and funny plot (poor witch keeps losing things), the movie is accessible to preschoolers and older kids alike. The stop-action animation is fabulous, and the movie's palette -- like the book -- is vibrant, beautifully highlighting the landscapes the witch flies through with her broom's other passengers. The rhymes are wonderful and the characters are lovable. The TV show is so well done that it outshines the book a bit, at least for someone who saw that first and read the book later. They adapted the show faithfully to the work and it fills in many gaps. Still, everything is here in the story, accept that the cat does not want the other animals on the broom. That was added for the show. But the glee of the witch is here with her loyal animals. This is a charming children's book, filled with fun rhymes, funny pictures and an overall charming atmosphere. Had it been around when I was a kid, it would have no doubt been one of my favorites. As things stand it is a blast to read with my daughter and much to my delight she really enjoys it as well.

BBC One - Room on the Broom - Dragon

As families land in the forest, they meet the dog who needs help to find the hat. Guests jump up and down and the hat falls from the tree. Guests again follow the witch, who this time loses her bow. If the animals knew that the witch could not make room on her broom for them, do you think they still would have helped her?

Character Profile: Dragon (Timothy Spall)

I also continued to write “grown-up” songs and perform them in folk clubs and on the radio, and have recently released two CDs of these songs. I grew up in a tall Victorian London house with my parents, grandmother, aunt, uncle, younger sister Mary and cat Geoffrey (who was really a prince in disguise. Mary and I would argue about which of us would marry him). The Dragon is the main antagonist of Room on the Broom and the 2012 computer-animated film adaptation of the same name. He is a big red dragon who desires to eat a witch (the main protagonist). He is the Witch's archenemy.

The Dragon introducing himself to the witch as he reveals his intentions to eat her, also his first words. When you hear Room on the Broom, you don’t instantly think of STEM, but this fun and challenging activity asks students to draw a sketch of their idea and then create it using lego, dough, or another means of creating. Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler raises questions about what it means to be a friend, helping others, and teamwork. Throughout the story, many different animals help the witch collect items that she has lost. In return, she makes room for them on her broom. At the end of the book, the animals must unite and work together to save the witch from the mean dragon. Before Malcolm and I had our three sons we used to go busking together and I would write special songs for each country; the best one was in Italian about pasta. The Gruffalo River Ride Adventure replaced a former fan favourite, Professor Burb’s Bubbleworks, with a dark boat ride based on Julia Donaldson’s popular Gruffalo books, illustrated by Axel Scheffler.

Did we miss something on diversity?

A witch and her cat fly around on a broom and the witch accidentally drops some of her things. Other animals on the ground return her items to her and ask for a ride on the broom. The witch says yes to them all, but is there room for all of these new friends? Rather than transitioning on a ride vehicle from scene to scene,” says Porter, “we wanted people to actually walk through the Room on the Broom story. As they do so, parents can talk their children through the story, just as they would when reading the book at bedtime to their kids.” The Dragon is fearsome, malicious and likes being mean as can be. He also gains pleasure of eating witches. Despite that, he is later revealed to be a coward when he got scared by a mud monster (which are the witch's cat, a dog, a green bird and a frog in disguise), showing that he's afraid of big scary monsters. I think this is possibly the best kids book I've ever read. It rhymes, so there is a real flow - and my young follower, who was 6 easily supplied all the end words at the right points, which I thought was quite funny, because being a boy, he couldn't read, but he had more or less remembered every word of this book.
