About this deal

Radweld gets my vote. Out of all the times I've previously used it, only once it didn't work, which is mentioned in this link. Each morning, the coolant level is down to the very bottom of the reservoir. But I can't see a noticeable leak.

Radiator - A step by step guide How to Fix a Leaking Radiator - A step by step guide

I drove about 150 miles today and no coolant warning light, so am thinking would rather keep topping up the coolant daily, then get car to garage when I get home, and not sue the RadWeld at all. Bars Leaks works for me. It's kept radiators functional when they should have been replaced, most recently in a Citroen Synergie. It's also got claimed lubricant and anti-corrosion properties. Water leaks are serious because they can do quite a lot of damage to floors and furnishings. There are different types of radiators installed on most central heating systems now. The first thing you need to identify is where the leak is coming from. The two places you can spring a leak will either be the radiator panels themselves or the radiator valves at the end of the radiator.It is sometimes necessary for a car to be equipped with a second, or auxiliary, radiator to increase the cooling capacity, when the size of the original radiator cannot be increased. The second radiator is plumbed in series with the main radiator in the circuit. This was the case when the Audi 100 was first turbocharged creating the 200. These are not to be confused with intercoolers.

Radweld Radiator Cooling System | Holts

Popular spots on these is at the bottom of the radiator and from the water pump itself and can really be seen from underneath with the undertray off. Radweld permanently fixes leaks without damaging your radiator, so you can simply pour and go, and feel confident that your radiator is fixed and free from leaks. While Radweld has anti-corrosive properties, we can’t guarantee that your radiator will never need replacing, as there could be unrelated problems further down the line. As they are so dependent on airspeed, surface radiators are even more prone to overheating when ground-running. Racing aircraft such as the Supermarine S.6B, a racing seaplane with radiators built into the upper surfaces of its floats, have been described as "being flown on the temperature gauge" as the main limit on their performance. Absolutely, and our products are not just for cars. Any vehicle with a cooling system can be susceptible to leaks. So, whether it’s a small car, large car, an SUV, 4×4, motorbike, van, or even static agricultural equipment, if it has a wet cooling system with a leak – pour in some Holts Radweld to get things running again. How does Radweld seal holes without causing clogging or damage?

In the case of a leaking radiator valve it will leak from where it enters the radiator or another joint on the two nuts. The water can run down the water pipe and no be entirely visible for quite a long time. If the valve is damaged it may also leak from the main body of the valve. Simply pour and fix, it couldn’t be easier. Radweld then works its way through the system to target radiator leaks without damaging or clogging the system. Holts develop products for you right here in the UK, based on the ever-changing needs of the car market, so they’re easy to use. How it Works

As this information is anonymised and aggregated it cannot be used to identify any individual user actions. Once at optimum temperature, the thermostat controls the flow of engine coolant to the radiator so that the engine continues to operate at optimum temperature. Under peak load conditions, such as driving slowly up a steep hill whilst heavily laden on a hot day, the thermostat will be approaching fully open because the engine will be producing near maximum power while the velocity of airflow across the radiator is low. (Being a heat exchanger, the velocity of air flow across the radiator has a major effect on its ability to dissipate heat.) Conversely, when cruising fast downhill on a motorway on a cold night on a light throttle, the thermostat will be nearly closed because the engine is producing little power, and the radiator is able to dissipate much more heat than the engine is producing. Allowing too much flow of coolant to the radiator would result in the engine being over-cooled and operating at lower than optimum temperature, resulting in decreased fuel efficiency and increased exhaust emissions. Furthermore, engine durability, reliability, and longevity are sometimes compromised, if any components (such as the crankshaft bearings) are engineered to take thermal expansion into account to fit together with the correct clearances. Another side effect of over-cooling is reduced performance of the cabin heater, though in typical cases it still blows air at a considerably higher temperature than ambient.

Years ago when I worked with engineers developing temperature-sensing fan drives, we used Bars leaks as a temporary measure in a Rover V8 which was instrumented with thermocouples in top tank, cylinder head and datalogging equipment. a radiator, consisting of many small tubes equipped with a honeycomb of fins to dissipate heat rapidly, that receives and cools hot liquid from the engine;

The engine temperature on modern cars is primarily controlled by a wax-pellet type of thermostat, a valve that opens once the engine has reached its optimum operating temperature. Since the development of aluminium or mixed-metal engines, corrosion inhibition has become even more important than antifreeze, and in all regions and seasons. No. Radweld has been developed and tested in our UK lab to repair leaks in radiators without clogging the channels, and causes no damage to your radiator.
