About this deal

This was quite an interesting book, a little different from those Princess Diaries that I’ve recently read, with Princess Mia talking and writing on her journal. This time, Ransom My Heart was being narrated by a third person and it was done OK. The popular "cool" kids are drinking, "getting wasted" to the point of needing an ambulance, and there's talk that they also do drugs. However, it's clear that the real cool kids are Mia and her friends, who don't drink or do any drugs. Though drinking is discussed frequently, it's mostly portrayed negatively. I'll be blunt about it I was already kind grimacy about this one before I read it. I read the blog entries and they were entertaining enough, but to make a book about COVID in general is just a little eye roll worthy. I am still detoxing from those we're all in this together commercials that blared the first half of 2020 before the PPP loans dried up and greed went out the wazoo and inflation occurred as a result.

The Princess Diaries Series - Penguin Random House

There was a small Princess Diaries Vibe to it as well!! The characters and setting were really easy to get into if you like old english speaking!! I thought this would be an interesting take on the franchise I loved so much growing up. But I was instantly reminded of why I didn't read the books when I was younger. There's just something about the character's voice that I don't vibe with and never did. Princess Charlotte, Duchess of Valentinois (1898–1977): the illegitimate daughter of Louis II, Prince of Monaco, later legitimized as his legal heiress; mother of Rainier III, Prince of Monaco. The Overall Tone—The tone is pretty irreverent, which I wasn’t expecting. I will admit I didn’t read the blog posts Meg Cabot released early on in 2020 when everyone was joking about how Mia would handle the Pandemic in Genovia, so maybe this is what they were like. But I found it pretty two dimensional and frankly, annoying. There were also some words and phrases that made me cringe. I don't understand why the author decided to write 20 more chapters after the initial romance came to a conclusion. To me, this book consists of only 10 chapters. I don't want to read more of it and ruin the enjoyment I felt. The Princess Diaries is a young adult series written by Meg Cabot. It’s about Mia who is the princess and heir to the throne of Genovia, a small country in Europe. Just when Mia thought she had the whole princess thing under control, things get out of hand, fast. First there’s an unexpected announcement from her mother. Then Grandmère arranges a national primetime interview for the brand-new crown princess of Genovia. On top of that, intriguing, exasperating letters from a secret admirer begin to arrive. Before she even has the chance to wonder who those letters are from, Mia is swept up in a whirlwind of royal intrigue the likes of which she’s never before witnessed. How far we've come: I'm in my 30s now and can't be bothered to be sheepish about whatever I choose to read (and anyway...e-readers for the win). But some things haven't changed, and I knew the second I saw this book that I'd be reading it as soon as humanly possible. How could I not? One must keep up with the world news, after all, and that includes the goings-on in Genovia. Lana Weinberger: A popular junior cheerleader with long blonde hair, a peaches-and-cream complexion, baby blue eyes and a voluptuous figure

Cry, Linda, Cry: Judy Blume’s Blubber and the Cruelest Thing in the World” in Everything I Needed to Know About Being A Girl I Learned from Judy Blume (April 2009) Finnula is a very fierce young woman. Her hobby is hunting, she's brave, stubborn, outspoken and she prefers trousers over dresses. I really liked her, tho at times she was a little too stubborn. These issues aside, it is a cute, fast-reading book for days when you don't want to overthink what you are reading.Meh. All I can think is that I liked the beginning and I liked how badass Finnula Crais was at the beginning. I liked her huntress skills and her leather trousers and her defiance but then along came her pregnant sister Mellana with a ridiculous plan to gain money. I swear I laughed my ass off at the ridiculousness of the whole kidnapping idea, I mean honestly that was just childish. Mia's (Meg's) writing abilities continue to blow me away. It was just amazing. No, telling you it was amazing doesn't do it any justice because it truly was a great book. I mean seriously good. I've read this book THREE TIMES! That's how good this book is! Yes, the "Princess Diaries Series" by Meg Cabot is a highly popular book series that revolves around the life of a young girl, Mia Thermopolis, who discovers she's a royal princess of Genovia. It's a fiction series that's perfect for kids and those who enjoy royal tales.

Between canceled dates with her long-sought-after royal consort, a second semester of the dreaded Algebra, more princess lessons from Grandmère, and the inability to stop gnawing on her fingernails, isn't there anything Mia is good at besides inheriting an unwanted royal title? Ransom my Heart has some of my favourite romance tropes such as strangers/enemies-to-lovers, love interests being forced together due to the most absurd circumstances and fake dating (or in this case, fake marriage). However, I've read books that make better use of these tropes. There isn't much chemistry between Finnula and Hugo. From the moment Hugo meets Finnula, he's attracted to her, but that attraction is mostly sexual. All he cares about is getting Finnula into his bed. The sex scenes in Ransom my Heart are also pointless and does nothing to further the plot or develop the romantic relationship between the main characters. Fun Fact: Finnula has a dog with the name 'Gros Louis' which is French for 'Fat Louie' (Princess Mia's cat).

Reviews

There are many light moments that will help readers stop getting stressed from reading about the pandemic. I loved getting some steamy scenes between Mia and Michael! And you can't help but love Grandmere and her antics. At last, Mia is a junior. An upperclassperson. Free of her responsibilities as student body president. So why is it that everything is going so terribly wrong? What is she doing in Intro to Creative Writing? When she has made it through Algebra and Geometry, why must she be faced with Precalculus? And for the love of all that is Genovian, why has Lilly nominated her for school prez again? All this is nothing compared to the news Michael springs on her, however. On top of all the mathematical strife, her beloved boyfriend is leaving for Japan for a year. Precalc has nothing on preparing for the worst separation ever! Mia Thermopolis is pretty sure there’s nothing worse than being a five-foot-nine, flat-chested freshman, who also happens to be flunking Algebra. Is she ever in for a surprise. There are a lot of political undertones throughout the book regarding covid, mask mandates and gun control that are exhausting to read. Reading about Princess Mia should make the reader laugh out loud and escape but instead this book ended up resembling a news report. The heroine, Finnula Crais, is extremely likable. She's kind, fierce, brave and outspoken. She's good with a bow and arrow, has keen hunting instincts and she wears pants. On the other hand, the hero, Hugo Fitzstephen is extremely boring. He is a handsome womanizer with a knightly heart and he is not much else.
