Men at Work is a brilliant fun dexterity game with great wooden components that fit perfectly their designated trays within the box. This is a 2-5 player game that works well at all player counts. It’s fun for whoever plays, whether that be children and family, new, or regular gamers.

Foreman – In this version players start the game with 2 random instruction cards. Over the course of the game, they can use one of these cards if they do not want to carry out an instruction shown on a drawn card. This version also states players have to place workers on the highest girder of the chosen colour. The precarious nature of the game is also one of its minor shortcomings, as the gentlest nudge of the table could send everything toppling. You need a flat, steady surface that can withstand a bit of bumping. I found the best way to play is around a coffee table. There’s a bit more of a performance element to being the only person to stand up and move around the table as you find the perfect place to slot in your piece, but it just amplifies the stakes and adds to the stability and integrity of the game. Thirty-one years later and I still can’t believe Men at Work successfully added `Vegemite sandwich` into the lyrics of a hit song. There’s a lot to do, so let’s get going! My only real issue with Men at Work is the player elimination mechanic. For the 2-player game, player elimination is not an issue but at the 3-5-player count, having someone sit out seems like a mistake to me. This does tend to speed up the game, but I’ve never been a fan having players sit out. Games are a communal experience for my group and player elimination goes against that. Final Thoughts: While other construction games have you building tall structures, like Jenga, or The Fuzzies. Men at Work has them apple bottom jeans, and boots with fur, and keeps it low, low, low… If you've not played a dexterity game, they are infuriatingly joyous and have you twitching with excitement and trepidation.
