About this deal

The Vornado Tower 184 is a fantastic tower fan with an excellent warranty. In fact, the five-year warranty is the longest in our review and much longer than the standard tower fan warranty of one year. The clue's in the name with the Honeywell QuietSet Tower Fan: it aims to be as quiet as possible as it cools. You can also pre-set the fan to shut off between 1 to 15 hours, keeping your room cooler for longer. This isn’t the perfect fan for sleepers, as even on its lowest setting it’s far from silent, but it’s fine for cooling down a small living room or taking some heat out of the bedroom before sleep. Looking for maximum cooling for a minimal cost? The Igenix is pretty hard to beat. On its highest setting it produces less air than our old fan, but it's more than enough for a large master bedroom. In fact, we've never used anything above the middle speed setting.

The Honeywell Quietset Whole Room is one of the most versatile tower fans we have tested, and has eight settings. This is twice as many settings compared with most of the other fans we evaluated and tested. The only fan that has more is the Dyson which had ten settings. However, the Honeywell tower fan is a more affordable than the Dyson. The Dyson AM07 comes with a timer that you can set automatically to shut off every 15, 30, 45 minutes o in hourly increments for when you want to turn the fan on and not worry about having to get out of bed to switch it off. This fan is one of the quietest that Dyson manufactures, running at only 61 dB. The unit can move up to 1,271 cfm (cubic feet of air per minute) making it twice as effective as most tower fans. Dyson TP07 Purifier Cool Purifying Fan: A close competitor to the LG PuriCare AeroTower Air Purifying Fan, this Dyson model also purifies the air that it circulates. It has a bladeless design with a modern aesthetic, and compared to the LG model, it has a smaller footprint. Unfortunately, I found the airflow to be slightly too diffuse; you couldn’t really feel the air movement at a distance of more than 6 feet away.

Instead, the best reason to get this fan is that it pushes so much air out over such a high and wide area, thanks to the sheer size of the fan, a 2.4m/sec maximum airflow and an 80˚ degree oscillation feature. It’s just a shame that it’s noisy, putting out 46dB at its highest settings and 40dB even in Sleep mode, while the Natural mode is plain distracting, constantly revving up and revving down the fan speed. Still, if you want a fan for a large space and noise doesn’t matter, this one’s a keeper, and one of the few tower fans we’ve tested that can rival a pedestal fan on reach and range. It doesn’t take up as much space, yet it’s a serious tower of power. Although this is a large fan able to cool big spaces, it has a carry handle that makes it easy to transport it from room to room as needed. You can choose the light to be white, green, purple or blue. Powerful and stylish - what's not to like? The best bit? This tower fan isn’t just a fan: it’s also an air purifier. The TP04 will remove 99.95% of ultra-fine particles, such as allergens and pollutants from the air around you – so you’ll be breathing in cleaner air, as well as feeling cooler.Decided that a tower fan is for you? Well, now your choice comes down to size and features. Generally speaking, the larger and taller the fan, the higher the airflow and the bigger the room it can cool, with the added bonus that you might not have to push it so hard to have the same effect. This means you can run the fan at a slower speed with – usually – less noise. That’s handy, as noise is the second-biggest factor. A noisy tower fan can be distracting in the daytime, but a real issue if it stops you dropping off to sleep at night. So without further ado, let's get into it! Main Features Of The Honeywell QuietSet Whole Room Tower Fan Finally, it’s worth looking at the practicalities. Is the cable long enough to place the fan where you want it? How stable is the fan on its stand? Some tower fans we’ve tested have been surprisingly wobbly, and while they tend to be less prone to falling over than your average pedestal fan, you still want to know it won’t tip over at the slightest provocation. Honeywell QuietSet Fans feature a range of quiet operation levels including “sleep” and “white noise”. QuietSet Fans are fitted with aerodynamic blades and a cone shaped air diffuser that’s engineered to deliver a powerful cooling experience with reduced noise. Let the soothing sound of these powerful fans lull you to sleep while also keeping your surroundings cool and comfortable. What is a Comfort Control Fan? The Seville Classics UltraSlimline is easy to use and performed well in our tests. It is one of the more affordable tower fans in our lineup, and it was one of the best performing fans in our power tests. We got good airflow right in front of the fan and all the way across the room.

There are a few things you need to keep in mind when choosing the best tower fan for you: its size, price, features, noise level, and design. You want to think about what you use the fan for (to cool the whole room or to cool your face while you work at your desk) and how much you can afford.Honeywell is one of the big players in the world of tower fans, and the HO-5500RE is a good example of why, with a decent design and a powerful blast of air at the top end.

This gentler setting, and the washable air filter to protect against dust and other particles, means the fan is probably better for your nose and throat. Dimensions: 40 x 10 x 10 inches | Settings: 5 speeds, plus Sleep, Calm, White Noise, Refresh and Power Cool settings | Timer: 1 to 8 hours | Remote: Yes | Oscillation: Yes; 80 degrees | Noise range: 33 to 44 decibels How it manages this impressive level of cooling is unsurprising however: it’s loud. On the top setting, measured right next to the fan, the sound level meter measured a volume of 79.1db, dropping to 50.5db two metres away. There are only three fan power levels, and although the fan does have a ‘night-time mode’, it’s really strangely implemented: the power of the fan is alternated between whisper quiet and jet-engine every few seconds. Truthfully it’s anything other than restful, and most people would be better off just switching it to the lowest setting, where it hits a far more manageable 68.5db – which isn’t too far off the Quiet model. We love that this is a combination fan and heater, so it can make your home feel more comfortable year-round, and you never need to store it. Although tall, its sleek look and compact base blends into your decor better than some other options we tested. Safety features include a blade-less design, and a tip-over automatic shutoff. Although it was a bit wobbly on its base if pushed, we have found that it does not tip over easily (even when dogs and kids go zooming by).

The best news is that the QuietSet name isn’t just marketing hype: the HY245E is noticeably quieter than most conventional tower fans, even at its higher settings, with a night mode you might actually sleep through. Other fans are bigger and put out more air over a wider space, but this one delivers more than enough cooling for the average living room during the day and works better in the bedroom at night. And if the price is a little higher, it’s well worth paying. While some fans are fixed and feature only one speed, it’s best to get a model that allows you to adjust the intensity. Most models offer three or four fan speeds, while some souped-up options have as many as 10 or 12 speeds. The more speeds a fan boasts, the more control you have over the intensity of the airflow. Just keep in mind that a fan with a higher number of speeds isn’t necessarily more powerful than a model with fewer—the former simply offers more steps between the lowest and highest speed.
