About this deal

I googled that but I didn't find the meaning. Google said it's as same as “heavier than heaven” and it's the name of a 2001 biography of musician Kurt Cobain, the frontman of the grunge band Nirvana. So what's the meaning? The author exhausted nearly every possible reference for this book, talking to everyone close to Kurt, as well as scouring through countless interviews and the journals to present a complete picture of an iconic figure. What comes through so strikingly is the story of a child who felt lost after the divorce of his parents and was never really able to reconcile those feelings, which show up in so many of his songs. It shows a person so driven to be accepted and adored, while possessing none of the traits one needs to cope with that adoration once it's given.

I can't avoid feeling sad reading this tragic tale, but sometimes we have to stand face to face with others' struggles so we can learn to put things in perspective and learn. Here's what I learned: life is our most valuable gift.

It is important to point out that they did not have an overnight success. They recorded their first album Bleach in 1989. They participated in various festivals and ‘indie’ concerts. It was not until 1991 when the band became famous. Their album Nevermind (released in 1991) was their breakthrough. All the dreams the musicians had came true. Nonetheless, Kurt Cobain became even more depressed. Admittedly, he who always wanted people to leave him alone found himself in the center of people’s attention. His drug addiction worsened. Fortunately, music entered his life. Kurt’s uncle presented him an electronic guitar. This can be regarded as a birth of the great star, an iconic figure of the generation X. Cobain took music lessons and soon he became a real ace. His music became a kind of relief for him. He also found a friend who shared his ideas and longings. This was Krist Novoselic who became a member of a renowned band Nirvana. The writer provides certain facts in a mix with perfectly cut descriptions. These descriptions make it possible to recreate the complete picture of Cobain’s life. Finally, it is also important to state that due to Cross’ special style the book is easy to read and comprehend. He tells his story in a very natural way. Heavier Than Heaven is a 2001 biography of musician Kurt Cobain, the frontman of the grunge band Nirvana. It was written by Charles R. Cross. The burden of his family's history would turn Cobain from a seemingly popular high-school student into a fully fledged drug addict and drop-out, with a petulance and anger that would increasingly surface only in his music and drawings. But what petulance and what anger. Though a drug addict, he called Courtney and cried when drug addicts worshipped him at a concert. He couldn’t stand being an icon for drug use. Insightful, painstakingly researched . . . Cross' rendering of Cobain's childhood and family history is fascinating. — The Seattle Weekly Chris Nelson Heavier Than Heaven tells the story of the man who created Nirvana, from his childhood until the tragedy surrounding his death. This book also accounts for the story of Nirvana. Although I'm not catholic, reading this book was a little like reading Jesus Christ story: even though I know the end, it's impossible to avoid the desire that it had been otherwise. He lived in Olympia with his girlfriend at the time, Tracy Marander, who supported them both by working in a cafeteria. Cobain didn't have a steady job, so he naturally didn't have a steady income. He usually slept until noon, ate something, and then played the guitar for hours.
