About this deal

After a long fight Daki and Gyutaro are defeated, but during the fight Nezuko almost loses control of herself and Tengen is forced to retire from his position as Hashira due to his wounds. Despite that, Kagaya Ubuyashiki, the leader of the Demon Slayers, rejoice over their victory against the Upper Ranks, certain that the day of Muzan's defeat is at hand. I like this setup; it really does feel like Inuyasha! But in a different way, a good way, really!! I found the spider family arc so so creepy yet so... humanizing? I think everyone's attitude towards demons are going to shift. That's actually really exciting!! I am not a fan of this series nor its artwork (the artwork is fine........but at the same time it is uninspiring), but the story is fast-paced and effective and there is a bit of a heart-aching twist in the end, so 4.5 stars. By the sacrifice of many of their companions, the Demon Slayers defeat Muzan once and for all when the night ends and his body is destroyed by the sunlight. However, before disappearing, he transforms Tanjiro into a demon, in a final act of revenge against them. With Nezuko's help, Tanjiro's friends help turn him into a human again and with their long battle against Muzan's demons finally concluded, the Demon Slayer Corps disband. Tanjiro and Nezuko return home with their friends, and the last chapter shows the lives of their descendants several decades in the future, among what appear to be reincarnations of the companions who lost their lives during their journey.

As the first volume to a series, it works very well. It introduces the main protagonists, gives us their origin story, and the gist of the overarching plot. It is simple but effective. Just about appropriate for a story you can enjoy mindlessly. After a long and hard battle, Sanemi and Gyomei defeat Kokushibo, but not without Genya and Muichirō sacrificing themselves to give them an opening. Kimetsu No Yaiba starts great. Volume one sets everything: Tanjirou's mission, expositions about demons and demon slayers, the trainings and final challenges. It is a by-the-book shounen manga that follows all the beats of a tried and tested "coming of age" outline, but done very awesomely by Koyoharu Gotouge. Synopsis: After their initial confrontation with Kokushibo, the most powerful of Muzan's demons, Tokito is severely wounded and Genya has been cut in half—but is still alive! Can his regenerative power heal even this fatal wound? Then the Hashira Himejima and Sanemi square off against Kokushibo and unleash all the skill they have against him. Himejima is blind, but if he can see into the Transparent World, he might have a chance. Who will survive this whirlwind of flashing blades? Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Vol. 12". Viz Media.
