one of our furbabies, Daisy, is on Hills c/d for maintenance of recurring crystals in her urine which caused blood in her urine and painful urination. I have been using cystease with this special diet for a 2 + years now. i am sure this was on my vets advice. however my question is does this supplement acidify cat urine ? and should we really be giving her this, plus the special diet ? Hello - My 7 year old tom cat recently had his first episode of Feline Idiopathic Cystitis, the vet explained that it is usually caused by stress but he is the most chilled out cat I have ever owned. He is however an indoor cat, a little over weight & previously ate a totally dry kibble diet. His diet has now been reduced slightly & also is now 50/50 wet & dry food. So hopefully this will help. TBH I would imagine it's similar to something like zyklene - I had her on this for well over a year and gradually weaned her off it Stress can adversely affect the integrity of the bladder lining in cats.
