About this deal

If there's one thing the 2020s have brought us (other than, erm, let's not even mention it), it's celebrity beauty brands. Billie Eilish joined the masses with the drop of her new fragranc e, Eau de Parfum, just last year. And trust, the scent is just as pretty as the bottle. Hi, I get it: Not everyone wants their perfume to make them smell like they were just rolling around in a field of flowers. So hear me out when I say this peony-spiked scent will get a gold star from even the staunchest of floral perfume haters. It leans warm and spicy (thanks to notes of rhubarb, patchouli, and musk), so the peony notes feel smokey and sweet, instead of powdery and stuffy. Chloe Metzger is the deputy beauty director at Cosmopolitan with nearly 10 years of experience researching, writing, and editing beauty stories that range from cystic acne treatments to best magnetic eyelashes to fragrance and perfume stories. She’s an authority in all beauty categories, but an expert when it comes to the newest scents to test, thanks to a lifetime of figuring out her own favorite fragrance notes. I’m legit obsessed with Le Monde Gourmande, an affordable line of fragrances that includes this light and sweet vanilla perfume. It’s definitely decadent— hello, vanilla, brown sugar, and apricot—but the amber and jasmine help tone it down a bit from being too rich and heavy. I actually wear this in big crowds a lot without worrying it’ll give someone a headache. It's so traditionally feminine and elegant, to the point that I could see myself wearing it on my wedding day (a decision more daunting than the person I'm marrying, TBH). Legit the only downside to the airy, lightweight quality of Rose 31 is that it only lasts a few hours on me—womp—so I always carry a lil 15ml travel size to re-apply throughout the day.

Cosmopolitan 39 Best Perfumes of 2021: A Year in Review - Cosmopolitan

Smells like: You guessed it, fresh florals. Punchy notes of Jasmine and rose are combined with heady patchouli. Describing a perfume as “unpredictable” might sound like a slight, but when it comes to this fragrance, I promise it’s not. Inside this gorgeous, pink and blue bottle is a f lowery combo of tuberose, jasmine, and orange blossom, all of which work together to exude crispness without smelling powdery. You might think smelling like roses is more grandma than glam but Riri has done the impossible and made the antique fragrance note...sexy.If you love roses and fresh-cut flowers, go for a rose perfume and make yourself happy. Love the smell of grass and live for hikes and camping? Look for a scent that’s labeled “earthy.” If your dream is to roll around a field of daisies, then the floral fragrance family is for you. Whether you think you like citrus fragrances, fruity perfumes, or warm vanilla scents, don’t worry about being too obvious—just get one and try it. Decide how intense you want it Some might find Santal 33 "basic" or over-worn. And yes, sure, I probably smell at least one person wearing this every single day in the city. But (!) there's a reason people are obsessed with the scent: Because it smells damn good. Comin' atcha with another hair and body perfume: The Dae Signature Citrus Hair and Body Mist is about to become your new fave scent. It's so freakin' fresh and is legit the perfect spring scent. If you like a strong, heavy floral that smells like it's practically blooming as you wear it, sniff Lys 41. It's filled with classic floral notes (jasmine, tuberose, and lily), but is grounded by musk and vanilla so it has a very mature, elegant vibe. Jo Malone’s Orange Blossom was the signature scent of Kate Middleton and Prince William’s wedding at Westminster Abbey, so you know it’s a good one. Clementine flower, white lilac, and vetiver come together to create a fresh floral perfume that’s truly one of a kind.

10 best Le Labo perfumes (tested and reviewed for 2023 UK)

If you're even remotely into fragrance, then you've probably heard of Le Labo or smelled one of their trendy perfumes on someone before. The first time I ever smelled a Le Labo perfume (hi, the famous woodsy scent called Santal 33 that's on every " best perfumes" list), it was love at first sniff. But let me tell you: Santal 33 is only one of many phenomenal perfumes on Le Labo's roster. The brand has a tonne of unique scents, including gourmand vanilla perfumes, earthy fragrances, and floral scents that all are all worth trying, IMO. In a world where vanilla perfumes, rose fragrances, and the likes of Santal 33 reign supreme, patchouli perfumes are severely slept on, if you ask me. And I’ll be honest: they weren’t really my thing either (I pretty much always want to smell sweet and edible), until I realized that patchouli, which generally smells earthy and musky, doesn’t have to exist on its own as a one-note scent. Once I realized that some of the best perfumes contain patchouli, I learned that patchouli perfumes aren’t just woodsy and heavy—they can also be sweet, floral, and fresh, too. Now, I’ll wax poetic about the versatile powers of patchouli until the end of time. Sometimes, you just want a super-light, easy-to-wear perfume that doesn’t require a special occasion or season—and also won’t give your work BFF a headache. This floral, citrus-spiked fragrance from The 7 Virtues is light and unintrusive, even to the most sensitive noses (thanks to its balanced rose, geranium, sandalwood, and amber). And if you love natural perfumes, you’ll be happy to know this vegan and cruelty-free formula is also free of phthalates, parabens, and formaldehyde releasers.

Life's Full of Surprises...

You can't round up the best perfumes without a mention of Le Labo's most famous fragrance, Santal 33. At this point, it's the quintessential woodsy scent that's been duped time and time again, but the original will forever be one of my favourites. And ooooh, the tobacco note gives it a deep, smokier finish. I wear this when I wanna be wrapped up in a cosy cashmere blanket. Listen, I'll be the first to admit that I'm not super into rose perfumes. They tend to smell powdery and mature IMO. That said, I'll always make an exception for Rose 31 because it's so light and not at all cloying or heavy. With notes like Hinoki wood, cedarwood, and white musk, this cheap perfume smells like the outdoors in the best way possible (think: freshly cut stems and the forest after a rainstorm). And because it's an oil, the fragrance only gets stronger the longer you wear it.
