The core set is what most players will gravitate towards, which includes your standard team deathmatch, free-for-all and objective-based face-offs such as Headquarters, where players battle for supremacy over an ever-changing area on the map, and plenty more. Then there are hardcore playlists, which carry similar modes to core only with more stringent conditions: less shots required for kills, for example.

Every year = minor tweaks, but nothing really worth buying an entire new game. Yet people do buy it. It saddens me and makes me laugh at the same time. This is what defines this generation of games... and gamers. And I want no part of it. It's my first CoD since MW, and I must say, I'm having a blast with it. Put around an hour in to single player- which isn't nearly as polished as any Killzone or Resistance effort, but it plays just fine. Not really a COD fan but I love Special Ops missions, Survival and Chaos modes on MW3. Is there anything like that on BO2 that are playable in offline splitscreen? Zombies doesn't seem the same.

The new create a class system is a big change. It allows more freedom in your loadout. Also a open world zombies, scorestreaks and league plays are some fairly substantial changes. Killing the admiral will bring on graver consequences for the Obama. Merely shooting a limb will let him recover and save the vessel from complete destruction. (If you wait long enough, you can avoid the choice of shooting Briggs, ultimately saving his life)
