About this deal

The Roland F-140r features a more advanced key action, the PHA-4. It has synthetic Ivory keytops and simulated let-off effect. The playing experience is a lot more authentic, natural and expressive than the GHS on the Yamaha. Korg has always been more focused on the workstation and synthesizer market, but their forays into the digital piano space are definitely viable offerings. Overall, I’m satisfied with the YDP-164. It’s a solid digital piano that everyone can appreciate. The only true downside is that alternatives exist and most of them provide better experiences overall. Thankfully, the YDP-144 retains the YDP-143’s relatively slim design, so it fits nicely into smaller rooms.

The CFX sound engine on the YDP-144 also features Damper resonance , String resonance and key-off samples . These are important nuances to create an authentic sound of an acoustic piano. The Yamaha YDP-144 is best suited for beginners due to its basic GHS key action. It can also be used as a casual instrument or a secondary practice piano. CONCLUSION Instead, you’ll get the mellow tones offered by a slightly-aged Mark I, with the same chorus effect as the DX7 adding to its character. A good thing about key action movement in the YDP-S54 and YDP-164 is that it's also noticeably quieter than the GHS key action and that kind of thing is very helpful and appreciated when other people are in the home or near the piano and you are using headphones because what people around you can hear is noise of the moving keys. If that noise is loud it can be very distracting and irritating. If the keys are quiet when they move up & down then that's something you'll be glad your piano can do.. For example, the Casio PX-870 comes with the names of the tones and settings marked above the keys, making navigation much easier and less reliant on having the user manual by your side.Same goes with the Pipe and Jazz organs, the latter including a realistic rotary speaker effect that sounds splendid on the built-in speakers.

Master Tuning. The central tuning of the keyboard can be changed in steps of 0.2 Hz. The default pitch is the standard 440.0Hz for Middle A. Can you use it with the Yamaha YDP-144? Of course you can. This is a great advantage because it makes everything a more fun. You also get a number of extra features that you may or may not utilize. But how does it work? With all of these new instruments, you get an updated sound engine, bringing this series one step closer to more expensive counterparts in the CLP-series (aka Clavinova). Total maximum size approx. 900 KB (User song: One song approx. 100 KB, Loading song data from a computer: Up to 10 Songs) Yamaha keyboards and digital pianos have always sampled the mellow tones of the classic Mark I, rather than the more distinct bite of the Mark II. It even comes with a sliver of chorus, adding to the character.

Damper Resonance. Allows you to choose whether damper response simulation is on or off for the piano sounds. We’ll discuss the layering mode in an upcoming section, but rest assured, the sounds you’re getting here are well-sampled and sound terrific. Both digital pianos have the Graded Hammer Standard key action from Yamaha. It’s their basic key action. It’s not bad at all, but they can do better, I know that now. To access more advanced features and settings, it requires a combination of buttons and piano keys. Kawai is famous for the authentic key actions on its digital pianos. The RHCII action on the Kawai KDP 110 is simply the best key action I have tried in this price range.
