E-books may weaken your eyesight due to the glare of the screen. Support the book publisher by purchasing his original paper book. If you can access it and get it, do not hesitate to buy it.As many Islamic scholars point out, the Qur’an clearly instates the principle of equality among all humans. In the Qur’an ( Qur’an 49:13, among other verses), God created humans from male and female, and despite the empirical differences among humans (based on race, gender, etc.), the Qur’an regards them as equals and only ranks humans based on their moral choices and piety. God created men and women from the same soul, as guardians of each other in a relationship of cooperation not domination. 4

Anyone who works righteousness, male or female, while believing, we will surely grant them a happy life in this world, and we will surely pay them their full recompense for their righteous works.”They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Huris with wide lovely eye. There they shall pass from hand to hand a cup of wine.” Kidwai notes: “𝘛𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘦𝘲𝘶𝘢𝘭 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘈𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘩 𝘢 𝘸𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘯; 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘦𝘵𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘵𝘰 𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 ‘𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘦’ 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘣𝘺 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘈𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘩 𝘫𝘶𝘥𝘨𝘦𝘴.” They are forced to accept that women are inferior to men, that their testimony is equal to only half that of the man, that they should inherit one – half of the male share, that Allah doesn’t want to see any women unveiled, that she may not conserve with men except her father, or her brother. The proper job and position for women is taking care of home, children and to be a housewife. The majority of Muslim women are brought up with the conviction that it is Allah’s command for them to be under male dominance and their fates are interwoven with that of men. Let’s go on to your next two books, the Koran and the Hadith. Can you tell me a little bit about them and why you chose them?

The premise is to list ayaat of the Qur'an and ahadith that refer to/ are relevant to women. It begins with the ayaat, and a VERY brief commentary by the author (as in, 2 sentences on average). The ahadith have no commentary. The most despicable expression one can ever come across is that according to Hadith, women of heaven will be created in such a way that after each sexual intercourse, they will become virgin again. What a wild and naked misogyny! What an insult to women and to humans!

In contrast to these mainstream narratives and the popular traditional interpretations of Islamic text, a solid (although still peripheral) feminist Islamic perspective has emerged. The less known narrative is that of Islamic jurisprudence female scholars who provide contextual readings and alternative interpretations of Islamic text. These Muslim women, who are also practicing believers, dispute the misogynistic Islamic interpretations that subordinate women in Muslim societies, and demonstrate -in the name of their faith- that the popular prejudiced readings of Islam are not inherent in the text but are products of their time and place. But can’t you, as a Muslim, practise just some of the Koran and Hadith, and not all of it? Most Christians don’t take the Bible literally either.
