About this deal

You can decide on how you want to award points and how strict you’ll be about the guesses. I’m a complete push over and say “Yes” to just about any variation of the smell. Here’s what I did… While the cards are scratch and sniff, if the storage and care instructions are followed it is not a single-use game and the cards should last for quite a while (the 4 Stank Cards are stored in a reusable bag).

For added pressure, you can time this game. Give the players a certain amount of time to smell and guess all of the scents It is also fun to have everyone in one room at the same time. If the objects are hidden in the jars or container, then let the contestants write their answer down and pass the jars around until everyone has a turn sniffing and guessing – Then let the contestants tell you their guesses out loud. See who came the closest or even nailed it. It would be fun to throw in something stinky– like the a smell version of the jelly bean game – bean boozled. What stinks at Christmas? Hmm… you can turn this game into a language activity like one reader did with her young children – talk about the smells, what it reminds them of and if they like the smell You can store the Stank Cards in the plastic bags provided so they don't leave a stink. I don't know how long the scents on the cards will last but I think if they are stored correctly they will be good to play with again and again. This game is really easy to play, providing your nose can take it! Each player takes a Mystery Whiff Card, Scorecard and a Whiff Strip. They open the first fold of the card, so that the smell zone is visible but not the answer and place it in their cardholder. The game finishes when every player has smelt all of the cards. If there is a tie, the tied players take part in a rapid smell-off round where each player gets 15 seconds to name the smell of a random mystery card. The scores are then added up and the player with the highest number of points is the winner. But that is not where it ends! The winner then gets to choose one of the losing players to suffer the dreaded “Whiff of Shame”. The chosen player has to take 3 big whiffs of one of the Stanky Cards (Diaper Blowout, Extra Old Toe Cheese, Smothered in B.O. and Hot Chunky Vomit) handed over by the winner, not a pleasant experience! If you are using the app you can film their reaction on the ReekCam in slow-motion and share with your friends on social media. WowWee’s What’s That Smell? is a game for 2-6 players and challenges players to guess the smell on the scratch and sniff cards, using just their nostrils. Some smells can be nice, while others are outright disgusting! It is recommended for ages 14+ and game time is from 15 to 30 minutes. The best sniffer wins and get to choose the loser who has to smell of the stinky Stank Cards in The Whiff of Shame! The kids that already guessed loved watching on…as a new person was trying to guess. They got to hand the jar to the new victim contestant

My kids have asked to play this over and over. This is a really simple game to pull together. It’s so much fun to watch everyone try and guess what the item inside the jar reminds them of. Christmas is the time when family and friends get together, so it is a great time to play party games. We were sent a fantastic, whiffy and gross game that is lots of nostril abusing fun; What’s That Smell? to play and review. This game really stinks! I love the spiced gum drops, so I’m adding these. Also, thinking about soaking cotton ball with egg nog. Maybe some sage or poultry seasoning for a turkey? Wish I could figure out the new baby doll smell 😉

After the end of the game, have the players share their guesses and see which team scored the most points We played the game using the app (you can just play with a timer or stopwatch). We opened the app and selected Party Mode followed by the number of smells we wanted to play with (2 to 6, this would be the number of players) and then the number of seconds per round (30s, 45s or 60s). Once everybody was ready, we hit the Let’s Play! button. The players then use a Whiff Strip to run over the smell zone on their Mystery Whiff Card (just once or twice, there is no need to furiously rub it as it will damage the card). Each player then sniffs the card and has to write down what they think the smell is, what smell category they think it is from and a smell association (your funniest memory associated with that smell). Alternative Idea for Jars – Here’s a Great Idea from a reader as jar alternative! Use disposable coffee cups with lids! They are perfect for concealing the item and they have a tiny opening for smelling thank you so much for this great idea – I will try a version of this when I visit seniors with dementia in our area – this could be a great way to trigger reminiscence – smells can be such a powerful memory trigger! (note: some lose certain smells with chemo and dementia but most don’t and many who do don’t lose all their sense of smell) Mystery Whiff Card · 4 Stank Cards · 4 Resealable Scent-barrier bags (for the Stank Cards) · 6 Cardholders · 1 Sheet of 30 Whiff Strips · Scorepad and Instructions.
