The Ex-Wife is a fast paced psychological thriller with lots of twists and turns that kept me up late at night trying to figure out how and where it ends. Narrated in the past and present with two different POV’s Jess Ryder does a bang up job of building up suspense in this entertaining novel which I would definitely recommend. In a genre often saturated with similar themes, "The Ex-Wife" manages to stand out, delivering a dark and captivating narrative that will keep readers guessing. This book is a must-read if you’re a fan of psychological thrillers filled with suspense and surprises. Sally Rigby and Amanda Ashby have crafted a compelling tale that will leave you eagerly anticipating their next collaboration. The first ¾ of the book moves at a fast clip and there were quite a few twists I didn’t see coming. My opinion seemed to change about where it was going with every chapter. But then, the book seemed to hit a speed bump. The pace of the book slowed and I felt like I could see exactly where it was going from then on. The ending was so obvious it was a real disappointment to me. And the climax was totally unbelievable. It’s an utterly absorbing and addictive tale of psychological suspense that will grab your attention from the very beginning.

A marriage built on secrets, lies, and pure craziness leads to the ultimate betrayal in The Ex-Wife. I loved how this psychological thriller kept me asking myself, “What is going on?” and racing towards the end to find out. The twists were surprising and kept me on edge as they were revealed. I felt a shot of adrenaline as each chapter ended and compelled me to keep reading (which I did). Several times I literally sat straight up in bed and asked myself, “Did that just happen?” Who doesn’t love a “gotcha” moment! This is a very clever and gripping tale of how easily one’s life can change and unravel at a moment’s notice and impact on many other lives. Alice is envious of Norah, who is now married to her ex husband, Mark. And Norah now lives in the nice big house with no financial worries while Alice struggles to make it by being an author, though she hasn't written anything in a while. They share custody of their teen daughter, Cassie. Make sure you read to the very end of the book to read the first chapter of Sally and Amanda's 'Remember Me?' which looks just as addictive as this one and one Im looking forward to reading myself! The book is told from the POV of Natasha then and Anna now. We aren’t initially told who Anna is or why she’s in hiding. Natasha irritated me as she was just so dependent on her husband. Although to be honest, way too many women make some of the same mistakes she did. Ladies, the main takeaway from this book is the importance of being financially independent!

My oh my, what a bumpy ride Jess Ryder has taken me on with The Ex-Wife. This one is a psychological thriller that keeps a reader guessing all the way until the very end, and then maybe even after you’ve finished the book.Congratulations Sally and Amanda on an explosive success!!! Welcome both to my favourite author club!! Here's to many more successes 🥂!!!

Kudos to Jess Ryder for writing this gripping psychological thriller that I just couldn't put down! Highly Recommend She reluctantly decides to get help from her husband’s ex-wife, the one he cheated on with her. As the story unravels, Natasha comes to learn her husband’s true motives, and what this will mean for their daughter. If you’ve yet to read the book and are eager to find out what happens, here’s what you need to know about The Ex-Wife book ending. I was also educated as I hadn't seen the Harold Wilson statue mentioned in the story nor the Antony Gormley sea statues so I googled both after I just finished. The sea figures are especially fascinating. There were a couple of real laugh-out-loud moments in it, despite the seriousness of the tale itself. Now't wrong with a little bit of light relief and it doesn't go overboard in the least on the comedic front, trust me....I like my murderation taken seriously. Newly married Natasha has the perfect house, a loving husband and a beautiful little girl called Emily. She’d have it all if it wasn’t for Jen, her husband’s ex-wife who just won’t leave them alone … Alice Hargraves is facing the charges of murdering her ex-husband’s fiancée Norah – Alice’s life was all perfect until Norah enters her life unexpectedly and that is when Alice’s husband Mark realizes he has been leading a mundane life with a wife who has no new aspirations.I’d describe [twists] as the deliberate misleading of the reader, encouraging them to make false assumptions and draw wrong conclusions about the narrator/s, the plot, the identity of the characters, their motivations and ambition, or how they are connected to each other. As the book progresses, the reader creates a fictional world in their own imagination and then, at a time of their choosing, the writer brings it crashing down.”

J. Cape & H. Smith [1929]; Grosset & Dunlap [1930]; New American Library [1989]; McNally Editions [2023]. This book will have you in a finger-pointing frenzy, accusing pretty much anyone and everyone. Who’s telling the truth? Who’s lying? Is anyone innocent in all of this? I can’t tell you how many times I changed my mind on who to trust. (Love that!) This novel consists of 27 chapters. The chapters are short to medium in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case! I have to quote this passage here as I really liked it, "....his mouth was set into a permanent smirk, as if he'd set a bomb somewhere and was waiting for it to go off." Another tremendous line is, "Everyone knew that misery loved dog videos" and I wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment ! And anyone who gets covered in mud to comfort a strange dog would be AOK in my book as well, pardoning the pun. Deftly crafted, wryly observed, and thoroughly unsettling . . . Caught between Victorian sexual mores and the libertinism of interwar Greenwich Village, Patricia brings a gimlet eye to the pervasive misogyny and sexual hypocrisies of her generation."She’s taken everything from me – my husband, my life, my home - but I refuse to allow her to take Cassie, my beautiful daughter. That's a step too far.
