About this deal

The LCD screen allows you to preset your tyre pressure and the pump will keep going until it's inflated sufficiently. The RING RTC1000 is not the first automatic tyre inflator I have ever used, but overall it is the best I have tried to date. It certainly beats the old foot-pump I used in bygone days, and is a lot more convenient (and probably more accurate) than the machines on garage forecourts. And once you’ve bought it, of course, it’s free to use! Auto Express has reviewed the new RingRTC1000 Premium Rapid Digital Tyre Inflator, awarding it 5*, meaning it “takes

Once again, it featured a sensible reel to store the three-metre cable. The hose length was a touch shorter at 50cm and it was a bit of a squash to get it into the side compartment. We liked the easy-read display and large on/off button, but it would have been better if there was a case or bag. You get the option to insert the pressures and info when you first add a vehicle, but the chances are you won’t necessarily be in front of your car while you’re doing this bit.The RTC1000 arrives encased in its protective carry bag with a set of latex gloves for handling messy wheels and a spare set of tyre valve caps included. This digital tyre inflator has a carry bag case with flat edges for the purpose of unobtrusive stowing. That’s a nice touch because the RTC1000 is likely to reside inconspicuously in the boot of a car for most of its lifetime. Not anymore; thanks to the Ring Smart Tyre Inflator, all you have to do is whip out your smartphone. The RING RTC1000 Rapid Digital Tyre Inflator is undoubtedly smart looking. I like the round, flat design, which makes it very stable. Once connected, the LCD screen indicated the PSI on my Citroen C1’s front right tyre in a matter of seconds. Target adjustment was another painless process as only the middle dial needed to be turned for me to reach my desired PSI target.

On our test car, a 2017 Peugeot 208 XY, the official tyre pressures are 2.5 bar front and 2.3 rear for a normal load. With a full car, these increase to 2.5 front and rear. Auto Express 'recommended' 2022. A recommended product in the annual Auto Express best tyre inflator guide

Memory function can store up to 4 tyre pressures in PSI, BAR or kPA; Cordless and rechargeable via 1m USB-C cable (included); Ring has been industry-leading in portable tyre inflators for over 10 years, winning multiple awards from across Europe, including several from Auto Express. The new range builds on Ring’s credentials, adding extra features to make the new range of inflators stand out in terms of performance, usability and design. The app saves all your tyre pressures along with other data that you can manually enter, such as date fitted, light or heavy load, winter or summer tyres. You can even add images of each vehicle and the tyres; the app is limited to five vehicles currently.

The unit is small enough to keep in your boot and comes with its own case to keep the dirt out of your car. The 12v connector can be neatly wound away on a spindle, saving the normal tangle you get yourself into. The 3.5m lead isn’t perhaps as long as some on the market but can do the job of reaching the tyre furthest away from the in-car power supply. In regard to tyre inflators, Ring Automotive offers what is probably the widest range of models available in the UK. We’ve three quite different models and had three members of our team test them to see how they perform in the real world. The Ring RTC1000 Tyre Inflator is a 12V digital rapid pre-set air compressor from Ring Automotive. The inflator comes in a storage bag (always useful!) but also contains some protective gloves, which are ideal for protecting you from the dirt on your wheels and valves. It has a large digital display that shows the current pressure reading and your target pressure, plus a status indicator across the middle. We timed how long it took to inflate a 15-inch tyre from 20-30psi, noting the pressures displayed before and after, plus the ambient and working noise levels. We also timed adding 5psi to a space-saver tyre, to bring it up to 60psi. Editing each value also isn’t that intuitive; there’s no obvious button to edit them, and when you go into ‘Tyre Setup’, it seems as though the app isn’t registering your presses. This is by design though. Award-winning digital tyre inflator that rapidly inflates a 13 tyre from 0 to 35PSI in two minutes.
