About this deal

So aside from potentially running out of word magnets and not having more displays to show your sentences on I’m sure you could play with a bigger player count than 6. Each player should randomly grab a bunch of magnet tiles. The game recommends taking around 75. This does not have to be an exact amount unless all of the players agree that it should be. Regular readers will know I don’t have a problem with racy humor! There was just a slightly forced, smirky feel to it, and I wish they had just chosen more neutral words, and let the double entendres arise more naturally, because they’re funnier that way. I like deciding when I want to make a dirty joke, rather than getting buffaloed into it because we’re at a party and that’s how you have to act. Possibly I am overstating this issue, because I am a mom who was playing a game with several teenage daughters, and I may have been on high alert. WHAT’S INCLUDED: 660 high quality word magnets, 6 metal submission cards, 100 prompt cards, storage bag, and instructions. With tons of absurd prompt cards and a new pool of words every time, this party game has infinite hilarious combinations and feels fresh every time you play A creative party game for making hilariously terrible sentences. Players respond to outlandish situations like "Tell someone you've clogged their toilet at a party" with just their limited pool of word magnets, leaving even master wordsmiths no choice but to create awesomely horrendous phrases. With hundreds of word magnets included, every round is always fresh, wildly creative, and tears-streaming-down-your-face funny.

Turn over the first challenge card, read it aloud to everyone and then frantically begin making your ‘ransom note’ type response. There are a few suggested ways to judge who wins the round but mostly I play with a friendly bunch so we take an honest vote accepting if someone else’s response is genuinely better than our own we vote for it. However, if you are playing with particularly competitive people who will always vote for their own, even if it’s rubbish there are other suggested ways to choose a winner to avoid creating war not peace. THE PERFECT GIFT: For birthdays, Christmas, Father's Day, or an anytime present for creative people. Bring it to Thanksgiving or your family / friend’s game night. This game has MADE our game night experience! The kids loved it, the adults loved it, my neighbors loved it...definitely a new favorite!" PLAYERS: While the game is made for 3-6 players, it’s equally hilarious when larger groups team up together. 30-90 min play time.Aside from a few choice cards the game can be as risqué or ‘clean’ as you make it with your phrase productions. Sure, to play with teens you might need to go through and take out some of those aforementioned cards with a more adult theme but to make the game 17+ seems a little odd. I mean it just doesn’t have the same “gosh that’s rude” feeling you get when playing Cards Against Humanity. Okay so I don’t actually say “golly gosh” in my general vocabulary but I’m not a rude party games type of player and I found this to be just fine for my temperament. What ‘s Game About Doing Why EASY TO PLAY: Learn to play in under one minute, and even the shyest players will be creating laugh-out-loud word magnet responses right away. Just take a few handfuls of word magnets, flip over a prompt card, and start playing — no long instructions to explain!

The magnets seem reasonably sturdy, and the little metal boards on which you arrange your thoughts are pleasing. They are like miniature baking sheets and I just liked them. You can also add in your own collection of word magnets, if you happen to have some. The whole game comes compactly stored in a small, deep box. We played with kids ages 12 and up (younger than the suggested age). In theory, you could play with younger kids, but even though the play is simple, it can be surprisingly mentally taxing (unless some inspiration jumps out at you), and I don’t think younger kids would have understood the point, or had fun with it. Protected: Podcast 36: She googled THIS on a Friday night and what she saw made her lose her mind! September 2, 2017 Players are constantly engaged in creative, out-of-the-box thinking that makes even the shyest players immediately funny. Protected: Podcast 27: My interview with Destiny Herndon-De La Rosa of New Wave Feminists July 14, 2017Rated 15+, but make your responses as clean or dirty as you like — it all depends on who you play with! Throughout the game you cannot replenish the word magnets in front of you. Thus the players have less words to choose from as the game progresses. Just grab a few word magnets, flip over a prompt card and start playing - no long instructions to explain. When we start playing this game in my family, no one wants to stop. We just keep saying, "Let's do one more," after playing for hours. The game has almost no rules, and no learning curve. It has our family in absolute stitches, and in amazement at the cleverness of people's responses. It's a bonding experience for the whole family (kids in their 20s).

This game is brilliant - lots of fun and really easy to play. It suggests it is for ages 17+ but my younger teens play it too with no problems. I guess some of the words and topics are more mature but it really is only as rude as you make it! AGE 15+: Ransom Notes: House Party Edition is designed to be perfect for both family groups and adult game nights alike — the prompt cards are appropriate for most teen family groups, but players can decide how clean or inappropriate to make the game depending on their answers. I love family games, but I’m horrible at learning new rules. Here are a few other games I’ve reviewed: The judge will consider all of the submissions and decide which one they think is the best. They can choose any of the submissions including their own. The player whose submission is chosen as the best for the round takes the Prompt Card. This card will act as a point at the end of the game. The judge has decided that the middle response was the best. The corresponding player takes the Prompt Card which counts as a point. End of Round

A great new evolution of the Apples to Apples formula. Instead of choosing written cards or filling in blanks, you build your own responses with the extensive selection of word tiles, and their choices of what words to provide (and which to leave out) lead to some hilarious results. After a player wins the current round, it is time to prepare for the next round. Take all of the magnets off each players’ submission card. Return all of these word magnets to the top of the box. We also love that the game has infinite possibilities. You can never have a repeat answer to a prompt, and there are also tons of prompt cards. I recommend it 100%."

Not really. While a majority of prompt cards are certainly suitable for all audiences, there are quite a few that are definitely not. BUT, if you do want to make it family friendly, pulling about 15-30% of the cards should make the game totally PG and playable for all!

The game continues until one of the players can’t make a sentence with the word magnets that they have remaining. I love this game! I bought it randomly and now it’s one of my friends favorite game for me to bring to all our gatherings. You get to be creative but silly and it’s so much fun with a group of friends or people you just met. This phase of the current round should last around 60-90 seconds. Players can decide whether they want to strictly follow the time limit with a timer, or if they want to be more lenient with it. Here’s a selection of cards I drew randomly, to give you an idea of what kind of prompts you might encounter: Once you painstakingly separated all the magnetic words. And some are tiny! My poor chubby little fingers could not cope with I or it’s and other 1 to 4 letter words. Grab a handful aiming for around 75 but you don’t have to count, unless you know, you have to, in which case this is going to be a looooong game! Laying out the words in your play area can be a little time consuming and I’ve not yet found a method that works well for grouping and finding words easily to use so I’ve tended to group by word length. Grab your magnetic board and you’re ready to begin.
