About this deal

Imagine if ASICS removed the firm medial post from the Kayano and gave it a single-density midsole. That’s exactly what they did with the Kayano Lite but at least they still kept the regular Kayano for runners who still want traditional stability. Shorten, M., & Mientjes, M. I. (2011). The ‘heel impact’force peak during running is neither ‘heel’nor ‘impact’and does not quantify shoe cushioning effects. Footwear Science , 3 (1), 41-58. The problem, however, is that looks alone do not make a shoe. The sole unit was too firm, unresponsive and it took a couple of miles on every run to feel comfortable running in them. If you already have the Structure 23, the Structure 24 is a version that you can skip. If you don’t have the Structure 23, the two versions are so similar that you can save money and get the 23 instead of the 24. Version 23 is lighter and has exactly the same ride as version 24. It’s not often that an updated version is so similar to the previous version that you wouldn’t be able to tell which version it is if you were blindfolded and you put both versions on, one on each foot.

Overall the performance of them is very good and I would certainly choose to lace them up on race day.If you were looking forward to a similar shoe to the Structure 22, you will be bitterly disappointed in the new Structure 23. The upper consists of a double-layer engineered mesh with the outer layer having large perforations in it for air to permeate. On the midfoot, the light green “Cucumber” coloured material can be seen through the large perforations.

Overall: B+ (A unique firm ride in today's soft world for those who need a little more room and medial mild stability without posting ) When you have a classic like the Structure which has been around for 22 versions, it would be silly to just kill off the name and forget it ever existed. In the advertising for their Infinity Run, they said that the Infinity Run reduced injuries by 52% compared to the Structure 22. Pssst, have you heard about Nike’s React Infinity Run FlyKnit running shoes yet? Well, you have now but did you know Nike designed them specifically to help reduce the risk of running-related injuries for runners who train for half marathons.

Extra cushioning in the React midsole. This gives you a softer landing, reducing stress on your knees, shins, and heels. The Nike Zoom Structure’s sole unit was completely redesigned between the 19th and 20th edition, and hasn’t been touched since. Unlike the Vomero 16, the Structure 24 has 3 flex grooves on its forefoot which helps with flexibility and makes the ride feel more relaxed. It also has a large teardrop-shaped cavity under its heel which saves weight and increases heel cushioning. I found the Structure 23 to be a really warm shoe. All the padding allows the upper to soak up sweat so on long runs, the shoe gets heavier. It’s definitely more suited to cooler climates. Many of the firmer, neutral trainers are stable enough to not need a medial post. Examples include the Brooks Glycerin and Ghost, the Saucony Ride and the Mizuno Wave Rider.

Nike Air Zoom Structure 22: Product Review | Runner Expert

If one was asked to describe how the Nike Structures of days gone by felt, the adjectives would be along the lines of firm, stiff and stable. Personal: B/ B+ ( Provides solid stability that works well with my feet and improves as the shoe breaks in, but feels heavier than I would like) The Structure 23 is the Structure series reimagined and I really like the direction that Nike has gone with it. React Infinity Run key design features (upper material, midsole, outsole, width, weight, heel-to-toe drop, etc) You get thin reflective strips on both sides of the heel and a single strip on the medial side of the toe box for night-time visibility.Initially, I felt the midsole was on the firm side but satisfactory. After putting over 100 miles in them, I can honestly say they just get better with age.

The highly flexible forefoot results in less snappy, more relaxed ride transitions. The Structure 23 flexes behind the airbag, towards the middle of the sole. Stability: A-[Stable Neutral But Really Mild/Moderate Stability] (Noticeable medial resistance from long lateral crash pad, firmer ride and lateral guidance lines)All the rubber weighs down the shoe but this is one of the most durable outsoles to come out this year and I’ll be really surprised if it doesn’t get to over 1000 kilometres. It possesses all the long-distance comfort features that Vomero versions before the 14th version had, such as a plush, well-fitting upper, a super durable outsole and a soft midsole with deep cushioning.
