About this deal

In all honesty, some areas are done better on the Aria 2021, while others areas are better on the Snow Edition.

So Moondrop sells two types of ear tips with three sizes each for all their IEMs. The first type has a smaller core diameter (41mm) to fit the single DD IEMs, such as the Starfield and the KXXS, along with the SSP/SSR. The second type has a larger core diameter (55mm) which fits the hybrids/multi-BA IEMs, such as the Blessing 2, Solis, A8/S8. Lastly, it has a very low impedance of 9 ohms, so it requires a source with output impedance around 1 ohm or less, based on the audiophile rules of eights: https://www.headphonesty.com/2019/04/headphone-impedance-demystified/#:~:text=The%20term%20'rule%20of%20eighths,had%20with%20a%20greater%20range. The Moondrop Aria has a slightly larger soundstage compared to the Cat Ear Mia. You do get a feeling that the Aria extends a bit better with more headroom with its airier tuning and a crisp and natural sound. SummaryVocals are presented well sounding natural and full, however, where it excels well is its overall clarity. I would dare say it is a punch above its price range, with how clean it is presented. Vocal layering is transparent, with overlapping vocals being heard well and distinct. Treble The metal body has been CNC machined into the classic moulded IEM shape. They have a nice weight to them (10g each), just heavy enough to let you know they’re there, but not distractingly so, once fitted.

The Moondrop Aria Snow Edition is a single 10mm dynamic driver universal monitor. Unlike the original launched in 2021, it uses a totally different driver inside. Living in Glasgow, Scotland but born and raised near Milan, Italy, I got the passion for music listening as a legacy from my father and my grandfather. I would like to thank Ms. Cloris and Moondrop for providing a review unit of the Aria. Rest assured that my impressions written in this review are my own personal thoughts and opinions and in no way influenced by outside parties. The bass goes deeper on the Aria with a more generous sub-bass presence and a more substantial level of impact. The Aria is not the bassiest IEM there is, but it does its job with a stronger and meatier rumble compared to the Aria Snow. Aria does well with female vocals, however. I would have to say it is similar to the BD005 as it offers an energetic and crisp presentation. However, that does come with some sharpness during cymbal crashes and in the highs that weren’t present when listening to the BD005. The Moondrop Aria is a Liquid Crystal Polymer IEM with a metal-injected chassis, brass inner cavity, and a crowd-pleasing Harman Curve tuning. For IEM aficionados and newcomers alike, this is a great choice for anyone wanting to dip a toe into Moondrop’s oeuvre without smashing the piggy bank. Timbre: LCP-diaphragm sounds natural with no metallic tint to it and is quite organic-sounding. No problems here. The supplied braided cable has a nice nylon material feel to it, and is terminated with a right-angled 3.5mm plug. There’s no microphone on these, so if you’re wanting to make calls you may have to look at an aftermarket solution. I found the cable a little on the short side because of its tendency to curl, and it was a little microphonic with my setup, but acceptable. The Arias are classy, beautiful IEMs. Internals

The Moondrop Aria is a great value option for those looking for a similar sound quality that the Moondrop Starfields provide but for a slightly lower price. Female vocals shine in this department. They are clean and crisp, with an airy texture that feels silky as you listen to ballads. This product was sent for review from https://apos.audio/ for my honest opinion and I've not been paid or influenced in any way. My opinions are just that, I do this out of a love for the hobby. Compared to the Cat Ear Mia, the Moondrop Aria has less emphasized lows. I enjoyed the quantity of sub-bass and mid-bass from the Cat Ear Mia, but it’s not far from the amount Moondrop Aria delivers. I recently just upgraded to moondrop aria's from my bluetooth skull candy uproar wireless. I am blown away by how much music i missed. I can hear the different instruments so clearly and I feel like everything is absolutely perfect. But I see IEMs that are hundreds of dollars more expensive and I wonder, "How much better can it get???"

Aria shell is Injection molded and has a CNC processed brass cavity. A single 10 mm liquid crystalline polymer diaphragm dynamic driver. For the treble, each of their timbres is a compliment to their sound signatures as a whole. The Starfield’s highs are a lot more realistic compared to the Aria, displaying a more accurate and smooth timbre, while also sporadically introducing other details like sparkle in sparse areas of the frequency response. With the Aria, the treble is far more textured, presenting you with a sweeter, more wispy resonance. Some of its fidelity is crisper than the Starfield, but still just as smooth and easy to perceive. Summary The Snow Edition are relatively easy to drive, though robust amplification can give better dynamics and bass tightness. Frequency response graph of the Snow Edition via an IEC711 compliant coupler. While physically identical, the Aria 2021 have a very tangly and microphonic cable compared to the one included with the Snow Edition. Note weight is on the thinner side, though timbral accuracy for vocals and acoustic instruments is very organic and natural. Note edges and dynamics are somewhat blunted, but this adds to a relaxed and chill (forgive the pun) coloration. Contrary to the name and design, the Snow Edition actually are not sterile or cold sounding.
