Logitech's Gamepad F310 is the best entry-level controller for most gamers. It's simple, affordable, and works as soon as you plug it in. Sure, the F310 won't be winning any awards, but it'll get you started, and that's what counts. Another perk is that it works on almost any platform as it is not exclusive, like the controllers for Xbox or PlayStation. It's a real shame that the Fusion FightPad doesn't quite live up to the hype because the Saturn controller it takes so much inspiration from is utterly superb. If you're not bothered about fighting games and simply want a decent wired pad that's great for old-school arcade titles (the Contra, Castlevania and Konami Arcade collections spring to mind) then this is a solid choice, but sadly when it comes to playing fighting games – the very genre it was created to cater for – it's somewhat less successful. Unlike a restrictive 4-way D-pad, the Razer™ Mecha-tactile 8-way D-pad allows you to streamline your execution with clean diagonal inputs so that you can perform moves with greater precision. I have a bluetooth 8bitdo M30 i use for my Switch, PC, & Sega Genesis and i couldn't be happier. I highly recommend it and would give it a 9 out of 10. Another copy from Xbox controller I bet. Those D-pads are horrid. I had those on xbox 360 controllers. MS learned their lesson by not releasing such crappy D-pad.. other studios should take note on that. This is analog "d-pad". You can't play with that thing. You won't be able feel the D-pad as you should when you perform a special skill or super skill. Such a pitty. Don't buy it guys. Otherwise you're supporting it. Let them come up with a decent controller with everything good on and not half done And, of course, it would be nice if you can hold the controller for long periods of time without your hands cramping up. So ergonomics are also gonna’ be important. I recently got a Hori Hayabusa and I love it. I also have a SN30 pro but I love me a good 6 button fight pad. This unfortunately hasn't sold me, although I love the Saturn feel. M30 seems a better overall proposal.

In fact, the Sega controllers are some of the best first party offerings for fighting games, so it makes sense why 8BitDo has their own Sega style controller (which was also a candidate for this list).

That said, I wouldn’t recommend playing claw with the Raion. The D-pad requires a lot of precision to navigate accurately. I’m not a claw player, so it’s possible you may not find it cumbersome, but it seems like the tradeoff isn’t worth it. And it makes sense… a lot of gamers play on PC and started with what they had… a mouse and a keyboard.
