Seductively smooth yet earthy, with hints of vanilla or toffee, similar to nut brittle. Its dark, dried fruits help to provide a profound, mature sweetness of sherry.

Oh yeah, this is turning into a sherry monster! The spices and organics grow more powerful over time. I got this Edradour 10 Years as part of a sample swap with some folks and I gotta tell you… I like it more than I thought I might given everything I’ve read about it. There’s a lot more going on in here than I expected which we’ll get into right now in the Edradour 10 Years review below. Edradour 10 Years InfoTaste: Sweet start - but it's sharp and alcoholic. No balance between the various elements. A little watery.

Palate: Spicy Christmas cake, sweet golden syrup with a touch of honeyed almonds. A distinctive, old fashioned, rich mouth feel coming from the small copper farm stills Since purchasing the distillery in 2002, Symington concentrated Edradour’s focus, almost solely, on producing single malts, many of them matured entirely or finished in a variety of interesting casks. Taste: Gentle peaty start, followed by a smoky centre and loads of liquorice on the palate. Smoky finish.Campbell Distillers (a subsidiary of Pernod Ricard) in 1982. A visitor centre was added to the distillery;

Edradour was acquired in 1982 by drinks giant Pernod Ricard. Following the acquisition, three quarters of the distillery's yield was initially used in the production of blended whiskies, notably including ‘House of Lords’ and the auspiciously named ‘King’s Ransom’. It was not until Signatory acquired the distillery in 2002, that Edradour concentrated its efforts, almost solely, on producing single malts. Renowned for experimenting with various outlandish wood finishes, Edradour has released various malts matured in some rather interesting casks, a ‘Chardonnay Finish’, a ‘Côte de Provence’ and a curious ‘Tokaji Wood Finish’ being among the number. I toured the distillery with my parents and a lovely Australian family. Our tour guide very fun and knowledgeable about Edradour's history and the distillation process. The grounds are very picturesque. It looks like something out of an old movie. Nice to tour a facility that is not a factory but focused on small batch well crafted products. A solid, sweet centre. Plenty of tannins in the (slightly gritty) finish. Some smoke?

Edradour 10 Years Review - The Whiskey Jug Edradour 10 Years Review - The Whiskey Jug

In 1982 Edradour Whisky was acquired by Campbell Distilleries a subsidiary of the Pernod Ricard company before being sold on to Andrew Symington’s Signatory company in 2002, after Edradour was deemed surplus to requirements, when the parent company acquired Seagram’s extensive whisky operations. Fresh and fruity; a more 'sunny' profile than that of the Moscatel Cask Finish. A subtle, enjoyable sweetness. The smell if peat smoke wafting thru the air , makes this a memorable tour. Of course free samples at the end of tour & retail shop.During this ageing process the whisky is regularly monitored with the same hands-on care and attention that it took to produce it. It takes the man-power of these three men, whose expertise, keen eye, nose and palate and overall attention to detail produces one of the most exceptionally singular malt whiskies in the world. Hidden in the very heart of Perthshire, this picturesque ‘little Model Village’ of Edradour is steeped in a historyof intrigue to inspire the imagination. And, with matchless commitment to retaining authentic small scale production, Edradour uniquely boasts over 25 distinctive expressions of Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky with their wonderful characters and flavours. The Edradour distillery has a huge amount of distillery bottlings – maybe the most diverse range of whiskies in the world. Taste: Oy! Chemical sweetness, like Blue Curacao liqueur. Smurf whisky? Woodier and winier in the finish.
