Catharsis Factor: After seeing Dreadpool kill so many of our favourite characters in both the Marvel universe and the classics, mainstream Deadpool fighting him, breaking him by pointing out how nonsensical his motives are and finally killing him for good is very satisfying. That’s not to say he will have an easy time of it. There is a core group of Marvel heroes who are opposing Deadpool and trying to stop him. I think seeing these protagonists at work will be a lot of fun. Hey, maybe they’ll even stop Deadpool before he kills everyone! Cullen Bunn: Everything about Deadpool’s approach to murdering these heroes is different. Even though we’re revisiting a story about Deadpool killing off your favorite heroes, this is a new tale, and we went to great lengths to make sure we weren’t walking the same path. As you said, the Marvel Universe is quite different than it was when we did the original series. It has evolved and grown. Deadpool’s murderous methodologies have changed, too. Doctor Doom, Ben Grimm, and Ghost Rider were all killed offscreen. There are also Hulk-like characters like Juggernaut, who have no equivalent to a Bruce Banner form to kill them in.Complete Monster: In Again, The Red Skull is the head of the villain conspiracy. Brainwashing Deadpool with several trigger phrases, Red Skull sends him out to murder every hero he can, while Deadpool is unaware of what he is truly doing. Deadpool proceeds to brutally and painfully slaughter heroes, from adults to children, until Gwenpool, before dying after fighting Deadpool, uses a trigger phrase to return him to sanity. Red Skull proceeds to murder Taskmaster when he decides not to fight Deadpool, and then states he deliberately used other villains to try to stop Deadpool, knowing the latter would kill them and thus they couldn't one day oppose his rule. Broken Base: Is it an awesomely dark take on a popular character, or a collection of mean spirited, upsetting murders of beloved characters? This is the kind of series that splits opinions. If Puppet Master could control freakin' Galactus, you'd think Reed Richards would have tried that by now. Not to mention, Punisher killing Puppter Master should have almost certainly broken the hold the puppets had over the heroes, as Puppet Master has to have some sort of psionic powers to control people effectively with hand-made dolls.
