About this deal

So I bought this monitor before returning it with great excitement and high hopes but unfortunately it was not meant to be. Well, the specs say it all, 360Hz Refresh Rate... What can I say more than this. cool looking screen with RGB colors, it doesn't have built it speakers.

But in general terms, MSI has priced this panel aggressively even if it’s still a lot of money to invest in a screen. But this is still a bright and dynamic display by conventional standards. Think of it as turbocharged SDR rather than true HDR and you’ll get the right idea, even if it is handy that this display can process an HDR signal. It means you’ll get the correct colours when viewing HDR content, be that video or games.

Resolution-wise, we’re talking 3,440 by 1,440 pixels, which is the current norm for this class of 21:9 aspect monitor. There’s also adaptive sync support in FreeSync 2 rather than Nvidia G-Sync form.

MSI has come up with a very nice overall feature set. The core specifications, including the superwide 1440p resolution and 144Hz refresh are right at the sweet spot for high-end gaming right now, while the extras including the fancy RGB LED lighting and USB-C connectivity may sweeten the deal depending on your needs and preferences. Installatie van een lokaal station met setup.exe-bestand voor ALIENWARE_AW2720HF-MONITOR_A00-00_DRVR_VKKDJ.exe Most of the competition in this segment goes with IPS panel tech, but VA tech does have one very clear advantage, namely static contrast. This monitor is rated at 3:000:1 for static contrast, far better than any IPS screen can achieve. TN Display - My daughter pointed out that if sitting too low or at an angle, the screen becomes harder to see. Ideally you want to be looking straight at the screen. You the screen doesn't fade when looking at it from slight angles.Different to the models sold in the US? Every review I've seen shows an LED light in the top rear part of the monitor. This has no lighting. That’s not to say the Alienware AW2720HF is bad when playing other games or outside of games. In Metro Exodus we’re plenty pleased with the colors (with 99% coverage of sRGB), responsiveness, and contrast of the display. The visual quality holds up in movies as well, where we’re even more appreciative of the IPS panel’s wide viewing angles and anti-glare coating. We can easily see the screen from wherever we’re lounging. The problem is the screen being a Nano IPS panel gave me eye strain during gaming sessions and became practically unusable for me over the space of less than an hour. Whilst this is the case for me this may not apply to everyone and therefore I have not marked it down for this. Everyone's eyes are different and therefore are more sensitive than others. I will leave this part of the review as a food for thought.

Quite a few of the points I am going to mention are obvious, however these are my (personal) honest thoughts* Elsewhere, you get excellent connectivity in the form of DisplayPort, HDMI and USB-C interfaces.MSI has also fitted the Optix MPG341CQR with a camera in its lower bezel. It makes for punchier colours and better contrast than the IPS alternative and in this implementation comes with little to no downside in terms of response and input lag. We’d rate that as a win. Blisteringly fast response times. Ideal for FPS games (Apex Legends, Titanfall 2 etc). Everything is sooo fluid.

The final really significant feature from an image quality perspective is HDR400 certification. It’s the very lowest level of HDR support and doesn’t include local dimming. It also means the MSI Optix MPG341CQR is capable of 400 nits brightness, which is punchy by conventional terms but nowhere near the 600 or 1,000 nits produced by what we would class as true HDR displays. AMD FreeSync technology synchronizes the graphics card and the monitor, so you get epic, full-frame images that don’t slow down your gameplay. The Alienware 27 Gaming Monitor is also certified NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible. Stand is solid, very firm and doesn't wobble the screen even if the desk shakes. There is also a convenient cable management tunnel within the stand The design of the Alienware Gaming Monitor is sleek and modern, with slim bezels that enhance the visual appeal and make it suitable for multi-monitor setups. The build quality is solid, and the monitor feels robust and durable, giving me confidence in its longevity. MSI offers three levels of pixel response. The fastest is a little OTT and results in some overshoot and inverse ghosting. But the middle setting makes for very good response with no noticeable downsides.
