About this deal

Great ExperienceFast Delivery, set up was not difficult at all. Was really impressed with the magnification of the moon on the first attempt. (24/03/2021) Max - Cardiff

The Skywatcher Evostar-90 AZ3 is a great refractor telescope, suitable for a wide range of abilities and budgets. This scope comes with two different lenses to observe sky objects at different depths. It has a long focal length, and can gather 65% more light than a standard 70mm model, which will give you clear images. It’s ideal for detailed views of the moon, as well as other objects in the solar system. An Alt-Azimuth mount is included, which is high quality and offers stability and strength for good viewing. What I like about it: So it’s advisable to use the counterbalance bar and weight in both altazimuth and equatorial modes Red dot finder You may also like: What Magnification Do You Need To See Planets? Is Sky-Watcher Explorer 130 easy to set up? I did did some star gazing with the naked eye a few days ago in the south coast of England, and am now patiently awaiting clear skies do I can go out with the scope! Inspired! The Sky-Watcher Explorer 130 is a classical Newton Reflector telescope. In its long tube is a spherical mirror, which doesn’t work as well as a parabolic mirror. It was nice to find the telescope well-collimated out of the box. If yours isn’t, there’s a good tutorial on collimating the telescope in the manual. An exceptional instrument that combines sharp 130mm f6.92 optics with an equatorial mount and motor drive The telescope has a fixed mirror cell for the primary mirror, which is collimated at the factory so it’ll only require occasional adjustment to the secondary mirror, for which a suitable Allen key is supplied. Patience is a virtue, in this hobby and in general life. It's something I've learned (and am still learning in astronomy and elsewhere in life).

Since we’re talking about setting up the scope, let’s talk about the weight and how it may affect setting up. The telescope, when coupled, weighs 27.8 lbs or 12.6kg. It also has a tube length of over 900mm. It’s not exactly a portable telescope for traveling. You will also see some more values such as Astigmatism and Coma. Again, these are measured by the interferometer when we take measurements of the optical surface after adjustment. These are values which ideally would be at 0 but as our test optics are all curved lenses, there will always be astigmatism and coma present. The lower the number, the less of these aberations you will effectively see but with most refractors, you can buy field flatteners which will compensate for the coma anyway. The astigmatisms value is explaining the error between the symmetrical curvature of the lens. Basically, no lens will be perfectly symmetrical, the lower the astigmatism, the more symmetrical the lens surface is. At Rother Valley Optics, one thing we pride ourselves on is customer service and quality of our equipment. When we test your telescope, we will ensure that it is of the highest quality otherwise, we will reject the scope under our strict quality control and test another model for your peace of mind. One of the main values to look at when testing a refractor is the Strehl ratio. The higher this number, the higher quality lens you have. At Rother Valley Optics, we will guarantee the highest possible Strehl ratio for your telescope. We will aim to provide 0.95 Strehl or higher on Takahashi, RVO Horizon, William Optics and many more! Generally, the higher the Strehl ratio, the lower the Astigmatism and Coma meaning a better image quality from your instrument. Great Telescope This is my first scope as an adult, and I must say I am impressed, very easy to put together great viewing of the Moon and Plants, yet to look at any star clusters, Motor Drive works a treat as long as your polar alignment is accurate and correct, would recommend this for anyone. (14/03/2021) Lewis - Hampshire Another reason why it’s beginner-friendly is because of its focal ratio. It’s neither fast nor slow, which means beginners have flexibility as to what they can observe. They are not limited to choosing between viewing deep sky objects or planetary or lunar observation.
