About this deal

As producer Creed Taylor commented, Fuse One was conceived as a forum in which major contemporary musicians perform according to their own musical disciplines and interact without the constraints that accompany leader responsibilities. Each player brings in new compositions and ideas.

Joe Farrell, tenor sax; Vic Feldman, Fender Rhodes; Jeremy Wall, synthesizer; John McLaughlin, electric guitar; Stanley Clarke, bass; Ndugu Leon Chancler, drums; Paulinho DaCosta, percussion; Jeremy Wall, arranger, conductor. The Many Facets Of Roger” also features the club classic ‘So Ruff, So Tuff’ and the album also made the Billboard Pop Chart peaking at No. 26 and stayed on that chart for 25 weeks. The Deodato release has been joined by another pair of albums, this time from Deodato's old label CTI Records. Before it was fashionable, producer Creed Taylor's label had been injecting pop and R&B sensibilities into jazz, paving the way for the commercial fusion sound. Fuse One was the label's late-period supergroup, releasing three albums beginning in 1980. The "supergroup" concept wasn't new to CTI; not only had the label sponsored "All-Star" concerts, but its top-tier musicians frequently cross-pollinated each other's albums in truly democratic style.
