About this deal

James created a spectacular feathered rainbow on his Lord of Change by thinning his Contrast paints right down to a glaze consistency with Contrast Medium . Then he applied lots of thin layers onto his Greater Daemon, slightly overlapping layers of Celestium Blue , Dreadful Visage , Sigvald Burgundy , Karandras Green , and more to retain vibrant paint colours while building up a smooth, ‘wet blend’ gradient between each hue. Daniel Veress A vivid alternative to Aethermatic Blue, this acts as a partner to Pylar Glacier, giving you even more choices in the blue range of the spectrum. The Citadel Colour experts have spent many months researching, developing, testing – and painting! – with our Shade range to find out how to make them even better than they already are. The result of all of this hard work is a total reformulation of all of the Shade paints you know and love – and the creation of seven new Shades. Sigvald the Magnificent, often simply called Prince Sigvald, and known as the " Geld-Prince" and the " Prince of the Decadent Host," is amongst the most infamous of the Champions of Slaanesh and Chaos Lords in the Old World, made legend by his prowess on the battlefield and his disturbing yet angelic beauty. Though he appears to be little more than sixteen summers of age, Sigvald the Magnificent has blighted the mortal world for over three hundred years. [1a]

Hundreds of years later, Sigvald the Magnificent marches to war at the head of an army of admiring Slaaneshi followers. Any who the prince deems to be ugly, crude or irritating he has put to the blade, sometimes eradicating whole cities on a whim. Slaanesh spoils his adopted son as an indulgent father, and Sigvald's wild excesses only serve to elevate him further in the Dark Prince's favour. Aesling - Beasts of Telldros - Dolgan - Draghar - Gharhag - Graeling - Hung - Iron Wolves - Khazag - Kul - Kurgan - Mung - Sarl - Schwarzvolf - Skaelings - Skaramor - Snaegr - Sons of Nifflecht - Sortsvinaer - Swords of Chaos - Tormentors - Wei-Tu - Yusak The “real” Contrast colours. These are the ones that do exactly what Contrast promises – pulling away from the edges and gathering in the recesses while still tinting the surface, creating mid-tone, shading and some basic highlights with one application. This was the majority of the range and comprises all colours I didn’t mention in the first two categories. Sigvald Burgundy is a deep, rich burgundy color that would work well as a primary color for any army that features a lot of red, purple, or gold. Here are a few armies that could be painted using the Sigvald Burgundy paint:This all came to pass when Sigvald came upon a small valley nestled between a small mountain range, deep within the heart of the Chaos Waste. It is here that he found a serene and beautiful landscape, completely shielded from the horrors which rage across the northern hellscape. It was from here that Sigvald, in his desire for perfection, gave his soul to a daemonic Slaaneshi entity known only as Belus Pül. In exchange for his patronage, Sigvald promised the daemon that he would follow his dream and indulge himself in every kind of decadence no matter how slight. With his soul sold to the daemon, Sigvald was given the power he needed to acquire anything he so desires. Harlequins: The Harlequins are a faction of Eldar known for their acrobatic combat style and flamboyant, colourful costumes. Sigvald Burgundy could be a striking base color for their armor, which could then be accented with brighter colours to create a vibrant, eye-catching army. Hundreds of years later, Sigvald the Magnificent marches to war at the head of an army of admiring followers. Any who the Prince deems to be ugly, crude or irritating he has put to the blade, sometimes eradicating whole cities on a whim. Slaanesh spoils his adopted son as an indulgent father, and Sigvald’s wild excesses only serve to elevate him further in the Dark Prince’s favour. Jaded and capricious in the extreme, Sigvald the Magnificent ever strives to plumb new depths of cruelty in his conquests. He inspires fanatical devotion in his followers, for they know that in the aftermath of battle, they may sate their most unholy lusts without restraint. The robes were painted with Stormfiend and Nighthaunt Gloom, the shield with Doomfire Magentaand Sigvald Burgundy, which I wetblended together, the club was given two coats of Ratling Grime, and I also used Ratling Grime to shade the brass armour I basecoated with Runelord Brass. For the skin, I used a coat of Kroak Green plus some glazes of Poxwalker to add some blue-greenish hues, and Targor Rageshade to wash the metal. Value

At this, Sigvald gave into a rage more akin to a Khornate Berserker than a Champion of Slaanesh, granting the Wight King yet another death. As Sigvald knelt over his opponent's body, he let out a scream of anguish. It was then that Throgg appeared behind him. The monster pummelled Sigvald into nothing more than a bloody pulp, angered by his constant taunts and boorish behavior, before urinating upon his ruined corpse... [5] [6] Wargear At first, Sigvald's every wish was made manifest. However, the prince's excesses eventually grew too obscene even for his father and, when his fondness for Human flesh was discovered, Sigvald was banished. Don’t forget to tune into our special Hang Out and Hobby sessions running ahead of the #WarhammerPaintathon, where our hosts will be on hand to show you just how these new colours work. While the worlds of Warhammer are littered with incandescent energy weapons and boldly-coloured robes, they’re also home to pallid ghouls and ethereal entities that can discorporate in the blink of an eye.

The icon of Sigvald the Magnificent and the Decadent Host, his Warriors of Chaos army in Total War: Warhammer III. By transitioning from a wash of Bad Moon Yellow to Ironjawz Yellow and Nazdreg Yellow , and then sharply highlighting with pure White Scar , Emma’s created a reflective and gleaming appearance for the gold surfaces – even though no metallic paints were used.* James Rose

Just don’t ask what the Citadel Colour team had to offer the Golden Demon for the arcane knowledge of this unique spray… Lizzie: A regal and rich blue, with deep tones that seep into the recesses. It is here that he found a serene and beautiful landscape, completely shielded from the horrors which rage across the northern hellscape. Lizzie: As majestic as Sigvald himself, this is a really vibrant colour that shades and highlights effortlessly. Naturally, I’ve tried this on the Prince himself and I can confirm – he heartily approves. Auric Armour - The Auric Armour is a sculpted suit of plate mail forged from ensorcelled gold. Tendrils of dark energy constantly caress the skin of the wearer, rejuvenating his flesh and closing his wounds with a tender touch. [1a] Lizzie: Easily one of the most vibrant of the green tones, this really draws attention to a miniature. I’ve used this to create some bright warp flame, and Nighthaunt magic.

Plus some colours have a tendency to produce smoother results while some dry rather unevenly. And while most Contrast paints dry matte, you sometimes get a pot that dries a bit glossy. The Army Painter’s competing product Speedpaint provides more consistent results but has some other issues like reactivating paint, as we pointed out in our review here. Sigvald Burgundy is a deep, rich red paint from Citadel Colour. As a base coat, it provides a smooth, even foundation for miniature painting. Its matt finish is perfect for creating shadows and depth on miniatures, and the high-quality pigments ensure excellent coverage. This paint is an exceptional addition to any beginner’s palette and pairs well with other reds, as well as metallics and other bold colours. What armies to paint with Sigvald BurgundyCitadel Contrast was a roaring success and popularised a whole new way of painting. Beginners were pleased with fast results, and advanced painters appreciated their versatility, as Contrast also makes good washes or glazes when thinned with Lahmian Medium or Contrast Medium. Not only have all of the existing Shades been reformulated – during the process of refining these recipes, the Citadel Colour technicians were inspired to create seven entirely new paints.* Fire Dragon Bright– This vibrant orange shade is a great choice for highlighting details and creating accents on miniatures painted with Sigvald Burgundy. As a warm color, it also helps to balance out the cool tones of the blue and provide a cohesive color scheme overall. It can be used to create dynamic highlights and shadows, as well as to create contrast with other colours like blue and bone. Emma’s Tzaangors have a vibrant, old-school colour scheme that uses Contrast for almost everything, from their pastel skin to their earthy horns – she’s even used layers of Contrast paint to give a metallic look to their golden weapons and trim.
