About this deal

The 5G version of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset, while the 4G version uses Samsung’s own Exynos 990. Both are top-end chipsets (while there is a 865 Plus, it’s more a gaming-oriented upgrade), but we’ve found that Snapdragon 8-series processors typically outperform their Exynos counterparts.

The Galaxy S20 is powered by one of two different chipsets, and where you live will decide which version you’re getting. If you’re in the US you’ll get Qualcomm’s top-end Snapdragon 865 chipset, while those around the rest of the world get Samsung’s similarly high-end Exynos 990. We haven’t encountered any issues with the power on tap in the Galaxy S20, but when we’re able to properly test the Snapdragon 865 version of the device we’ll be sure to update this review with our findings. The single center-aligned punch-hole for the front-facing camera looks cleaner, and obstructs less of the display, than the lozenge-shaped cutout housing two lenses on the S10 Plus. Less noticeable unless the two phones are side-by-side is that the new Plus model has no top lip or bottom chin – its bezel is evenly sparse.

The Galaxy S20 supports cards up to 1TB – if you need even more internal storage, you’ll want to opt for the Galaxy S20 Ultra or Galaxy S20 Plus that offer 256GB and 512GB options. Samsung Galaxy S20 battery life This does, of course, depend on 5G being available in your area from your provider, but even if it isn’t yet, Samsung is baking in the future-proofed connectivity. Capture every detail you can imagine with the S23 Ultra's quad-lens setup. It boasts a head-spinning 200MP Ultra High-Resolution Rear Camera, for immaculate detail in every image. Samsung has made some important steps forward with the camera setup on the Galaxy S20 when you compare it to the Galaxy S10, but not all of the improvements are reflected in the stats you see in the spec list. There are three main rear cameras: a wide 12-megapixel with an f/1.8 lens and OIS; an ultra-wide 12-megapixel; and a 64-megapixel telephoto with an f/2.0 lens and OIS. Samsung says the sensor on that main 12-megapixel camera has been completely rebuilt, with its bigger pixels allowing in more light.

Likewise, rather than placing the three rear cameras in a neat vertical strip like last year, the Galaxy S20’s trio of cameras are instead squished into an upright oblong in the top left corner of the phone. It’s certainly not as brutish as the S20 Ultra and its gigantic telephoto zoom sensor, but I still wouldn’t say it’s particularly nice to look at.However, pictures looked a touch candy-coloured for my liking, and the iPhone 11 did a better job at capturing more neutral-looking images. The S20 was also insistent on overexposing most images. The differences between the two are night and day as soon as the light begins to fade, too: the S20 looks drab when placed side-by-side with the positively vibrant images from the iPhone 11. User Available Memory : User memory is less than the total memory due to storage of the operating system and software used to operate the device features. Actual user memory will vary depending on the operator and may change after software upgrades are performed. Instead, If you directly compare with the next phone along the price spectrum – the Galaxy S20 Plus – then you might spot that the experience remains largely the same. Aside from the size and battery differences – as well as an option for 4G – the Galaxy S20 uses a near-identical combination of internal components. That’s the new Exynos 990 processor, 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage, if you weren’t aware. The S20 range also breaks new ground with the introduction of 8K video recording, and anti-roll correction (up to 60 degrees) as part of Samsung’s Super Steady stabilization feature.

And when you do come to charge the phone the included 25w charger will take you from 0-100% in about 65 minutes. This increases to 90 minutes if you’re using a slower charger from an older Samsung phone or a generic PD charger and about 3 hours if you’re charging wirelessly. This might not be as fast as the Oppo Find X2 Pro which can get a full charge in 40 minutes, but it’s a big improvement nevertheless. Software – Samsung’s One UI 2.1 is its best software yet But in truth, there are more features here than you’ll see with most other Android UIs. DeX, for instance, allows you to use your phone on a Mac or PC or even a monitor.

Solid Triple Camera

It’s worth pointing out that there aren’t any bold color choices here, and these are all relatively subdued options compared to the Galaxy S10 color range. The Aura Red is perhaps the boldest color choice, but that's one of the harder to find versions of the handset. Enjoy a stunning 6.2-inch pOLED display with super high resolution. Delve into the action in true clarity, whether you're gaming, streaming, or scrolling. Now and then, colors looked a bit too bold though, as though the scene optimization had gotten overzealous, making images look rather artificial. You can easily switch off this processing feature though. The zoom skills aren’t quite as good as the Ultra, but this 3x shot retains all the detail of the ball For most people, the Samsung Galaxy S20 is still one of the best Android phone available right now. Especially with the cheaper prices around.
