About this deal

Portexin Pro-Kolin contains both probiotics and prebiotics needed to support digestive health in cats and dogs. For pets that experience bouts of stomach upset and loose stools, Pro-Kolin helps soothe the gut lining and firm up faeces. Containing natural 'good' bacteria, Pro-Kolin helps achieve a healthy digestive balance that alleviates discomfort. There is also Canikur for maintenance of digestive function in dogs especially diarrhoea, it comes in flavoured tablet form and given twice a day.

He doesn't like the Yumpro standard probiotics tablets, and actually refuses food with them crushed into, so I'm not really prepared to try their stool firming version. We recommend using 15ml and 30ml syringes for small to medium dogs and the 60ml syringe for larger dogs.

Specification

Pro-Kolin Advanced contains the same high quality ingredients as the original Pro-Kolin, but also contains a few extra ingredients to further support the gastrointestinal tract. These extra ingredients include another clay, montmorillonite, fibre in the form of psyllium and also beta-glucans. In addition to this, Pro-Kolin Advanced is now available as separate products for dogs and cats with different flavourings to please the most discerning canines and felines.

Pro-Kolin Enterogenic acts to reinforce theintestinal mucosalbarrier, this aids and assists the intestinal immune system and to normalise the balance of good and bad bacteria in the intestine. He's on day 6 of a 10 day course of antibiotics (which of course may be contributing to the softness), and was wormed 4 days ago. Next step after the antibiotics is treating with Panacur for giardia, but is there an alternative stool firmer we can try? Safety– the micro-organism chosen must be non-pathogenic and non-toxic. Within the EU all probiotics must be registered for use in an individual animal species. For example, Enterococcus faecium (NCIMB 10415) E1707 is registered for use in dogs. promax syringe for the control of diarrhoea that contains probiotics too and also can be used to prevent diarrhoea at times of stress etc and during use of antibiotics. Aresistant starch that is fermented by the resident microflora to produce butyrate (a short-chain fatty acid) which is the preferred energy source for colonocytes (the cells lining the large intestine).

Although he can tolerate Chappie and it doesn't give him the squits as such, we generally find that Chappie tinned comes out the other end almost exactly the same texture as it went in (yeuch), and normally twice the volume, but we do alternate this with RC Sensitivity tinned for pill hiding when his tum's too sensitive to risk any other yummies. We make one tin last 3 or 4 days though and feed the pills wrapped in the mush before his meal, as he's started to refuse to eat his meals if they've got medication in.

Bionic Biotic: Supplement for digestion, skin, coat and condition » Pooch and Mutt: Dog Health Supplements | Pooch and Mutt Pro-Kolin Enterogenic reinforces the intestinal mucosal barrier; this aids and assists the intestinal immune system and normalises the balance of good and bad bacteria in the intestine. Viability– the micro-organisms within a probiotic product should remain viable during their storage. The probiotics should also be able to pass safely through the stomach so that they can colonise the gut. A good freeze-drying process will enable the product to be stored at room temperature throughout the duration of its shelf life. Microencapsulation will afford protection throughout the high acidity of the stomach. Pro-Kolin Advancedis a highly palatable paste which is available in 15ml, 30ml and 60ml syringes with easy to read graduations, making the product easy to administer. One thing that I have found helps is Bionic Biotic that I have used and found good. If you want to have a look at that.

Competition for nutrients– within the gut beneficial and pathogenic micro-organisms will be utilising the same types of nutrients. This results in a general competition between bacteria for these nutrients. When a probiotic is administered there is an overall reduction in nutrients available for pathogenic bacteria and consequently this minimises the levels of pathogenic micro-organisms. We recommend using 15ml and 30ml syringes for small to medium dogs but also in a handy 60ml syringe for larger dogs. Bless him, He's on Doxion once a day on an empty stomach, 1 hour before breakfast, 75mg Zantac twice a day, half an hour before meals, 2 x 50mg Tramadol twice a day, 15mg Vidalta 3 times a day, Previcox once a day, scoop of pre/probiotic once a day, Keeper's Mix baked into a biscuit with some tinned food to keep the gas to a minimum, and currently he's on 1 and a 1/2 huge pink Synulox tablets twice a day. For the maintenance of normal serum cobalamin levels, which can often be depleted in long-term digestive disturbances. To administer the correct amount of the product use the handy wheel on the syringe plunger. Rotate the wheel until it is to the right of the number representing the desired quantity to be administered (see diagram below showing the correct and incorrect position for 10ml).Kaogel always used to work, until he started having a reaction to this, so for the last 3 years we've always sworn by ProKolin.
