About this deal

The Dell OptiPlex 7000 Tower supports Gen12 Intel Core technology. The 12th generation Intel Core processors were released in 2022. Named Alder Lake they use a hybrid between the Golden Cove and Gracemont architecture. The main differences to the previous generation, is the support for both DDR4-3200 and DDR5-4800 memory. The 12th gen comes with support for the new PCIe 5.0 bus, potentially increasing the bandwidth two times compared to the PCIe 4.0. to install aftermarket PSUs to support better GPUs. You can also find that there is space constrains inside the chassis, making it difficult to accommodete larger GPU to boost the gaming performance. CompleteCover:CompleteCover service is available for personal computers, Axim PDAs, Dell branded projectors and LCD TV. CompleteCover excludes theft, loss, and damage due to fire, intentional damage, acts of God or natural disasters, animals, pets or pests. Customer may be required to return unit to Dell. However, like many other business pre-built PCs, this model may have proprietary elements like the power supply, the chassis or the power connector, which can make it difficult for users

The OptiPlex 7000 Micro is the slower of the two, of course, but it still produced decent numbers. It didn’t complete the GPU Compute test; its integrated graphics just aren’t designed for that workload. The HP also didn’t complete that test, but likely for different reasons. First up is SPECworkstation 3, which is a specialized test designed for benchmarking the key aspects of workstation performance by using over 30 workloads to test CPU, graphics, I/O, and memory bandwidth. The workloads fall into seven broad categories: Media and Entertainment, Product Development, Life Sciences, Energy, Financial Services, General Operations, and GPU Compute. We listed the broad-category results which represent an average for all the individual workloads in each category. Although far from apples-to-apples comparable, the OptiPlex 7000 Micro will face the HP Z2 Mini G9 mini-workstation in our testing, being one of the only other mini-PCs we’ve tested.Micro is an understatement describing the OptiPlex 7000 Micro – it’s barely wider than an SD card. It’s Dell’s smallest business desktop at just 7.2 by 1.4 by 7 inches (HWD) and a mere 2.1 pounds. The HDMI port is another digital video port you can use to connect external display. It has very similar capabilities to the DisplayPort with few exceptions. However, the Dell OptiPlex 7000 Tower doesn't have one. This is not a problem if there is on-board DisplayPort.

Yes, Dell OptiPlex 7000 Tower is compatible with Windows 11. According to Windows 11 specification, all models that have Intel 8th Gen processors (or newer) with TPM 2.0 support and a UEFI BIOS with Secure boot, are eligible to upgrade form Windows 10 to Windows 11 through Windows Update. GPU upgrade For competition, the OptiPlex 7000 Micro faces the HP Elite Mini 600 G9 and the Lenovo ThinkCentre M80q. They’re nearly the same size as the Dell (to within tenths of an inch) and offer similar processing power, expansion, ports, and Intel vPro Enterprise. Unlike Dell, they notably accept a 2.5-inch drive in addition to their two M.2 slots, but the Dell is the only one that officially lists Linux as a supported operating system. From a thermal perspective, we measured the CPU temperature under a CPU-intensive workload of the 7z compression benchmark running in a sustained loop. At full tilt, the CPU temperature leveled off around 90C and the heatsink had an outlet temperature measuring 149F. The excellent 7-Zip file archive tool has a handy built-in compression benchmark. We ran 10 passes using a 128MB dictionary size. Higher numbers are better. The HP continued to dominate, but the OptiPlex 7000 Micro held its own. 7-Zip Compression Benchmark Faster RAM speeds permit your processor to access the data stored inside the memory faster. This is important for the overall speed of your system. The motherboard of the Dell OptiPlex 7000 Tower supports RAM speeds of up to 4400 MT/s. Wi-Fi SupportDell OptiPlex 7000 Tower has four RAM slots and supports dual channel memory configuration. This is sufficient for almost any use case and especially in situations where the workload calls for more RAM. In graphics testing, the OptiPlex 7440 performed decently, but was mostly beaten by other all-in-one PCs. On the 3DMark Cloud Gate test, using medium settings, the desktop scored 6,441—by no means a bad result, but other desktops, such as the HP Sprout (9,390), performed better. On the Heaven test, the OptiPlex 7440 similarly managed an okay 20 frames per second (fps) on medium settings, the same as the Lenovo ThinkCentre E93z (20fps), but still fell far short of the impressive 62fps of the Apple iMac with Retina 5K Display. Graphics capabilities are usually a secondary consideration in business settings, however, so don't let these results put you off if you need an all-in-one for other uses. Dell OptiPlex 7000 Tower supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth combo card with the on-board M.2 2230 (Wi-Fi/BT) slot. The card contains a Wi-Fi module that supports various Wi-Fi standards, as well as a

The OptiPlex 7000 Micro is Dell’s smallest business desktop PC. It fits where traditional desktops don’t, making it an excellent option for retail and other space-constrained environments. We’ll look more at its design in the next section. You can upgrade Dell OptiPlex 7000 Tower with a full size GPU. Models like NVIDIA GTX 1660 or GTX 1650 Super are good and safe upgrade option and will work with most Mini Tower form factor. Bluetooth module. It is small circuit board that is designed to fit into a dedicated slot on the motherboard. A dedicated graphics card is the main concession when going to a desktop this small; the OptiPlex 7000 Micro uses Intel integrated graphics in all configurations. Dell’s smallest desktop with dedicated graphics is the Precision 3460 Small Form Factor. The DisplayPort (DP) is the most widely used digital interface for transmitting digital video and audio between display devices and PCs. It is good to see that the Dell OptiPlex 7000 Tower is featuring a DisplayPort 1.4a. The post version is important if you target higher resolutions with high refresh rate. Although, ver. 1.2 is completely fine for most users, if possible, aim for the higher versions DisplayPort. With the lid popped off, you can see a lot of that heat is captured by the heatsink and forced out the rear exhaust vent. With the 12900K CPU being available as one step above the 12700K, we do expect that version to run slightly hotter. With the cooling system being larger in this system than that of a notebook there really shouldn’t be a concern.

Intel Core i7-12700 (12 cores/20 threads, 2.1GHz base, 4.9GHz turbo, 65-watt base power) w/ Intel vPro EnterpriseIt can sit on a desk upright or horizontal. In addition, Dell offers a VESA mount so it can hide behind a monitor, an under-desk mount, and even an “all-in-one” stand which has a caddy for the desktop and a VESA mount for a monitor. The OptiPlex 7000 Micro is so small that it doesn’t have an internal power supply, resorting to an external laptop-style adapter. Fortunately, Dell offers a sleeve that lets you mount it out of the way. Our last test is the popular SiSoftware Sandra 2021 suite. Higher numbers are better in all subtests. I only have numbers for the OptiPlex 7000 Micro since this test has only recently been added to our benchmarking regimen. Its memory bandwidth isn’t impressive, but its cache & memory latency and cache & memory bandwidth are acceptable for DDR5 So-DIMMs. SiSoftware Sandra 2021 Yes, you can upgrade Dell OptiPlex 7000 Tower for gaming with better processors, graphics card, memory, and storage devices. Please explore the sections bellow to find ideas and suggestions on how to upgrade Dell OptiPlex 7000 Tower. Windows 11 compatibility However, keep in mind that the type of GPU you can install will depend on the available space in the chassis and the PSU power rating.
