About this deal

Collects Conan: Serpent War (2019) #1-4, Supernatural Thrillers (1972) #3. The serpent god Set plans to usher in an eternity of darkness, and only the chosen warriors across time and space have a hope of stopping him: Conan the Barbarian, Solomon Kane, Dark Agnes…and the man known as Moon Knight! A brutal extension of the original Doug Moench themes and supporting cast that might have qualified for Marvel Knights if it was released a few years earlier – it is that bloody, adult, and relentless. It’s also an immensely satisfying and well-illustrated read. For a long time, it was mostly an uncollected series for the moment. But now, Marvel is collecting it in a new Omnibus edition: Then: Infinity Crusade #1, Thor #464, Infinity Crusade #2, Web of Spider-Man #104 & Dr. Strange #55 Collects Werewolf by Night (1972) #32-33; Marvel Spotlight (1971) #28-29; Defenders (11972) #47-50; Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man (1976) #22-23; Marvel Two-in-One (1974) #52; Moon Knight (1980) #1-20; Marvel Team-Up Annual (1976) #4; Amazing Spider-Man (1963) #220; material from Defenders (1972) #51; Hulk Magazine (1978) #11-15, #17-18, #20; Marvel Preview (1975) #21

Moench is a frequent and longtime collaborator with comics artist Paul Gulacy. The pair are probably best known for their work on Shang-Chi: Master of Kung Fu, which they worked on together from 1974–1977. They also co-created Six from Sirius, Slash Maraud, and S.C.I. Spy, and have worked together on comics projects featuring Batman, Conan the Barbarian and James Bond. Hot damn, I would say this is the most deflated I had felt at a Marvel book in some time, although that statement would be about as honest and as credible as those for whom allude to the fact that Moon Knight is basically Marvel's version of Batman. Maybe that's how Marvel would like to spin it, hoping to capitalise on the popularity of the Dark Knight, although apart from the most miniscule and tacit of comparisons, Moon Knight is about as far from the Caped Crusader as I am. Moon Knight also teamed-up with Spider-Man, the Punisher, Nova, and Night Thrasher in the Round Robin storyline at the end of 1991. Collects Shadowland: Moon Knight #1–3 and Moon Knight #13. The whole event is collected in Daredevil: Shadowland Omnibus.Deadpool, Vol. 4 #27 & 29: See Deadpool. I’m not 100% on this placement, but it makes sense for this to come before the next two big events.

Devil’s Reign: See Guide to Marvel Universe Events – Devil’s Reign. Marc appears in Devil’s Reign (2021) #1 & 4 in addition to his one-shot.Collects Marc Spector: Moon Knight #1-34, Amazing Spider-Man (1963) #353-358, Moon Knight: Divided We Fall And Material From Punisher Annual (1988) #2. Moon Knight officially joins the Secret Avengers in 2010’s Vengeance of the Moon Knight #10 and leaves the group in issue #21. As a member of this team, he will be part of two Marvel events: Fear Itself and Onslaught Unleashed. During that time, the character will also become a member of the Heroes of Hire during 12 issues. Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight: The Art of the Series ( 2023 hardcover, ISBN 978-1302945862 / digital TBA)

From the get go I felt as though I was thrown in the deep end here. Being a new reader to Moon Knight I didn't really know who the characters were and there wasn't any detailed explanations, just occasional nods to their shared past, which was slightly irritating as it made it very clear I was missing a lot of details here. Collects Werewolf by Night (1972) #32-33; Marvel Spotlight (1971) #28-29; Defenders (1972) #47-50; Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man (1976) #22-23; Marvel Two-in-One (1974) #52; Moon Knight (1980) #1-20; Marvel Team-Up (1976) Annual 4; material from Defenders (1972) #51; Hulk Magazine (1978) #11-15, 17-18, 20; Marvel Preview (1975) #21; and Amazing Spider-Man (1963) #220. Collects a series of one-shot fights between heroes and villains from outside their franchise from Punisher Annual (2019) #1, Venom Annual (2019) #1, (Magnificent) Ms. Marvel Annual (2019) #1, Deadpool Annual (2019) #1, She-Hulk Annual (2019) #1, Ghost Spider Annual (2019) #1, Moon Knight Annual (2019) #1, Wolverine Annual (2019) #1. But, after that, Moon Knight joins, for a short stint, the Marvel Knights in Marvel Knights #4 in 2000 (he leaves the team in issue #14). Marc Spector was born in Chicago, Illinois, the Jewish-American son of a rabbi. But Marc refused to follow in his father’s footsteps and instead, he became boxer before joining the Marines. Later, he worked for the CIA and as a mercenary. It’s during a mission gone wrong in Egypt that Spector is left for dead at the feet of an idol to the Egyptian god Konshu, moon god and protector of travelers at night. Konshu resurrected Marc, giving him for the occasion enhanced physical abilities, making him the moon’s “knight of vengeance,” the “fist of Khonshu.”Collects Contagion #1-5. A strange substance is taking over heroes and citizens alike and Moon Knight assists the heroes of NYC to stop the contagion.
