Keep Wales Tidy – Tourism – Green Coast Award Beaches 2005". Archived from the original on 6 October 2007. The western part of the AONB is included in the Register of Landscapes of Outstanding Historic Interest in Wales, for the rich evidence of a long sequence of land use and occupation from the prehistoric to industrial periods. This includes Iron Age forts and a surviving medieval open field system (known as the Vile, near Rhossili). Parliamentary Constituencies are the areas used to elect Members of Parliament (MPs) to the UK Parliament in London, and Members of the Senedd (MS) to the Senedd (Welsh Parliament) in Cardiff. At the last General Election, there were 650 UK constituencies, 40 of which are in Wales. Within the Swansea city and county area currently are three constituency areas, and individual area maps of Gower (PDF) [1MB], Swansea East (PDF) [3MB]and Swansea West (PDF) [3MB]are available. However, the constituency areas are currently subject to review by the Boundary Commission for Wales.

Since its establishment in 1999, the Gower Senedd constituency has only elected Labour members. The Gower constituency in Westminster had previously also elected only Labour Members of Parliament (MPs) since 1908; the longest run (with Normanton and Makerfield) of any UK constituency. This ended in 2015 when the Conservatives took the seat. In 2017, it returned to Labour. The area of both constituencies covers the peninsula and the outer Gower areas of Clydach, Gowerton, Gorseinon, Felindre, Garnswllt and encompasses the area of the historic Lordship of Gower apart from the city of Swansea. The smallest type of administrative areas in Wales are the Communities- the equivalent of parishes in England.Community councils or town councils operate across Wales. There are 39 definedcommunity areas in Swansea, of which 24 are currently active as councils - mostly outside the main urban area.An overall map of these areas in Swansea, and a series of individual maps, is available here. This Welsh village is located on the north of the Gower Peninsula. The area is great for walking with coastal paths along the Loughor Estuary where you can look out for a wide variety of wading birds.
