About this deal

Llandaff’s Cathedral Close has a bit of a reputation as a spooky location, which paranormal writers and ghost seekers highly rate. Whether you believe in ghosts or not, there is a legend associated with the street, that used to be called The Road of the Dead, will send chills down your spine. The road runs down the side of the Cathedral. Her ghost has walked the building ever since and appears to have been particularly active in the 1980’s, when the premises were occupied by a television facilities company. Its eerie atmosphere comes down to the location. The crumbling castle is perilously positioned on a cliff on the west coast of the Trotternish Peninsula in Skye. Crashing waves and often stormy skies make it a brilliant setting for all things spooky.

You’ll find this haunted castle in Devon, just outside Totnes, and it’s scarily empty besides from a visitor’s cafe. To get a real feel for the horrors of this place, use the audiobook provided by English Heritage as you walk through its ruins. Although the nature of the entities is largely friendly and playful, the number and frequency of occurrences leave Llancaiach Fawr Manor House as one of the most haunted houses in Wales. Loud bangs are still heard in the dead of night, poltergeist activity is rife, and the most famous of spectres is the classic Lady in White who wanders aimlessly around the maze of hallways the building has to offer. With so much spirit activity that takes place at this location, it truly has earned its name as one of the most haunted places in North Wales Nantclwyd-y-Dre exteriorOne apparition is said to be the Blue Lady seen wandering through the kitchen and Haunted Rooms notes she "is often heard rattling dishes and pans in the dead of night." The most bizarre of the regular inexplicable occurrence are the disembodied voices that always seem to be chatting one room ahead of

North Wales. A land of scenic beauty, rugged coastline and picturesque countryside. This is what people generally think of when they think of North Wales. However, there is another side to my welcoming homeland. Along its labyrinth of winding roads through the mountains and hills you can unearth its many gruesome histories, secrets and paranormal hotspots many overlook. North Wales breathes history and with that many fascinating tales of all the people who have come before us and seemingly don’t want to leave or to be forgotten. It is reported that many of these hanged criminals still haunt the pub today, as well as other entities from later on in history. One man, John Crowther is a popular apparition to see on the property. Crowther was hanged to death as a sheep rustler and many people have claimed to have seen his figure in and around the pub. Heol Fanog, a farmhouse nestled in the Bannau Brycheiniog had such severe occurrences of paranormal activity, including bursts of power usage, an elderly apparition and even possessions that it was dubbed Hellfire Farm. However, benevolent apparitions aren’t the only entities in the Skirrid Inn, in one encounter, while a former landlady was trying to sell the pub, she was hounded by poltergeist activity especially during viewings of the property, in one instance glasses were thrown around the kitchen and smashed. Another instance saw an elderly man place his false teeth on the nightstand before bed, and when he woke up, the teeth were snapped in half on the other side of the room. It is, however, in Pigeon House Wood at the rear of the property, that the most disturbing phenomenon is experienced.

Ruthin Gaol, Denbighshire

A little boy who fell to an early death from his bedroom - he is said to tug on your clothes for safety There have been numerous ghostly sightings at Margam over the years. It's believed that one frequently encountered spirit is thought to be Robert Scott a gamekeeper that worked at the Castle for many years. It is thought that scott was murdered by a poacher and his spirit still rages around the grounds today.

If you want to find out more about ghost sightings and the spooky history of Llandaff, you can take yourself on a self-guided audio tour. The castle itself (which is really a Victorian manor home) has been in disrepair since a fire in 1977 caused extensive damage, and is still in a period of restoration. However, it was long before this in 1898 when the infamous Robert Scott worked as a head gamekeeper on the Margam grounds. While trying to catch a poacher, Scott was shot with a shotgun and left to die on the Margan grounds. Port Talbot’s Margam Castle. In 1985 the castle sadly fell into neglect. The floors slowly fell through, the gardens overgrew, and the spirits were left alone. Nobody was there to hear the ghostly horse hooves treading the ground or see the dark shadows often seen. My personal experiences hereThe most notable ghost story associated with Llanelly House comes in the form of a 22-year-old housemaid named Mira Turner. The story goes that the young maid fell pregnant before taking a dose of laudanum poison and throwing herself down the stairs. A ghostly face is seen peering out of the bedroom door, also Robert Wynn himself is seen walking around the house, greeting people with ghostly “hello”! Elsewhere on the second floor two women spirits have been encountered, one of them seems distressed. Could this be both of Roberts two wives? Built in 1435 the property has changed hands many times through its history. The house was used by two surgeons in Victorian times, then an ironmonger, girls school and also as a rectory. This may be why there are a plethora of ghosts and spirits who have chosen to stay in the building. But it was ghosts of a different kind that Derek Acorah encountered during his Ghost Hunt programme in Swansea, where he came across a mischievous gang of ghostly dwarves. 8. Margam Castle

Some say it’s the body of a young man who died, trapped in the network of chimneys while trying to hide his dalliance with one of the maids. Stradey Woods, Llanelli A former lord of the manor has been seen many times in the Oak room, while a young girl can be seen playing in some of the bedrooms. Located in the village of Nelson near Caerphilly is the 16th century Tudor manor house known as Llancaiach Fawr Manor. The manor house is reputed to be not just one of the most haunted places in Wales but one of the most haunted buildings in Britain. There have been reports of ghostly goings-on in nearly every room of the house and along the stairs and corridors, from noises and sightings to feelings and even smells such as that of lavender or roast beef. One of the more common experiences is hearing the rustle of petticoats believed to be those of a 19th century housekeeper known as Mattie, but several other spirits are claimed to frequent the building and visitors who are keen to experience strange happenings for themselves can participate in the ghost tours held at the manor house. Gwydir Castle When visiting Plas teg, there have been reports of people being prodded by nothing, even pushed by an entity. People also experience overwhelming emotional changes, of anger, despair, sadness, and sometimes happiness. Sobbing, wailing and talking are common as well as disembodied footsteps and apparitions.

people. They are very distinct, but when those who hear them actually enter the room, they appear to have moved in to the next room or even gone upstairs where their chatter is still clearly perceptible. BBC Wales recently aired ‘Paranormal: The Girl, The Ghost and The Gravestone’ which followed Radio 1 presenter Sian Eleri as she investigates the seemingly ordinary location. The pub, which is nearly 500 years old, is said to have had hundreds of reported sightings of the supernatural.
