About this deal

Not all rechargeable scales are the same when it comes to how long they last on a charge, though, and generally speaking the more expensive scales last longer on a charge. Some also have more obscure charging ports while some come with USB-C ports which are the same as most modern smartphones except iPhone, which can be very handy. How much should you spend on coffee scales? I like the Acaia lunar when it comes to the look and feel of them, how low profile they are, and how accurate and fast they are, but I just find it's a bit faffy to use. Short. At the same height, as the well-known espresso specialist scales the Acaia Lunar, you're unlikely to get much smaller than this in terms of height. I also like how simple they are, they're cool looking scales but they're incredibly simple to use – and I'm a fan of the auto timer function. It has an auto-shutoff when it turns off in five minutes after being inactive (while the timer is off);

For the typical single-brew coffee bar (or the home coffee brewer), the Incline is a fast responding and accurate scale. They're made to be used for hours & hours at a time in coffee shops and to give baristas all the functionalities and features they might need, and as a result, they're not cheap – but there are plenty of scales above which will suit most home baristas at a much more reasonable price point, so you really don't need to spend this kind of money if you don't want to. For a double espresso, you won’t need to weigh more than around 20g at any one time, and to brew 1 litre of filter coffee you’ll need about 60-65g of ground coffee. There are also a couple of little details that are pretty cool, like the timer starts automatically when you start to brew, plus you can adjust when the scales turn off when idle (something that does occasionally happen with some scales - which is super annoying halfway through a brew).

In this article, I’ll explain why the best coffee scales are a great weapon in your armory in the quest for coffee perfection, why you should consider using a dedicated set of coffee scales for specifically weighing coffee, and how/why they differ from ordinary kitchen scales. As with the coffee gator scales, below, there are reports that the results can be inconsistent, with the weight occasionally jumping. Personally, I just think this is what you're going to get when you pay this kind of money for a set of coffee scales. For weighing coffee, personally, I think as long as the scales have increments of 0.1g up to around 200g, this is more than enough – if the scales then weigh in increments of up to 1g after this, as some of the more affordable scales do, personally I think that's fine – but if you want to spend more on your scales, then accuracy up to a higher weight is a feature you'll usually get with more expensive scales. This versatile aluminium coffee scale is also water-resistant, which goes a long way towards durability and reduced water damage. Perfect for weighing coffee shots on a busy espresso bar.

The scales are very responsive in their 0.1g accuracy - they are fast to update and the display is clear from various viewing angles; you can keep an eye on it from a few meters away. There's a new version now, I've updated the links above to show you the price of the new “plus” version. If you ask most baristas or seasoned home baristas to name the best brand of coffee scales, they'll probably reply “Acaia”. They have a very good reputation, for making some extremely popular high-end coffee scales.Finally, coffee beans are different weights depending on the roast type, I’ve weighed them (I know, extremely sad). Darker roasts weigh less than lighter roasts and so when you combine all of these things, you’ll simply never get an accurate weight for your coffee if you use spoons or scoops.
