About this deal

Traditionally Wedding DJs would supply a huge collection of hit records on vinyl, but nowadays they’ll mix high quality music from CD and digital sources such as MP3. A professional Wedding DJ will provide a self-contained service including all their own sound / PA and lighting equipment – often allowing their microphone and PA to be used for speeches. Because you’re an open-format DJ, you don’t really know how long you will be playing every song because there will be different genres throughout the evening. When you’ll be playing at least 2 minutes on average of each song, divide the hours that you’ll be DJing by 2 minutes. So for 1 hour, you’ll divide 60 minutes by 2. Resulting in 30 songs for a one-hour DJ set.

Should I prepare for my DJ set? In my opinion, the most important thing to a good DJ set is that you are entertaining the crowd. That said, do what is best for you so you can entertain the crowd in the best possible way.

1. Choose Your DJ Name Keywords

The average length of all genres together is 3 to 4 minutes. There are a few songs that are below that average and there are sogs that go beyond that average. If you only brought 30 songs to a one-hour DJ set, there is no room to adjust your playlist to the crowd’s reaction. There are no maximum recommended songs in your entire music library. What is however very important is that you can keep all those songs organized and easy to find. This includes sorting them by genres, categories, energy levels, tags and/or keys. I have made a table of the average amount of songs played per hour per genre so you can find out for yourself how many songs you will need to play every hour for your genre. Genre Whilst most Wedding DJs are a one man/woman show (some may bring an assistant) – we have a few “DJ plus Live Musician” acts who offer a different take on a DJ performance. These acts mix a DJ with a live singer, saxophone player, drummer, violinist and sometimes multiple live musicians - to give their performance even more depth and wow factor!

If however, the songs have vocals in them you may have to wait until the bridge before you can mix in the next song. Our fantasy trade analyzer is extremely simple to navigate for managers. Simply select whether you are playing in a redraft or dynasty league, your scoring system, and whether the league is a 1QB or Superflex format. The user inputs players on both sides of the potential trade before pressing the “Analyze Trade” button. The system will then convert each side of the trade into a relative value and recommend whether the user should or should not make the trade. It is important to think about what you are going to play at your DJ set and to keep in mind what you might play based on what the crowd wants at the time. Adjust your DJ set to the way the crowd reacts. You can only do that by bringing more songs than the minimum of 30. My recommendation is to at least double the number of the minimum required songs. The best Wedding DJs tailor their performances specifically for your requirements, liaising with you well in advance of your big day to ensure their playlist for the night contains all the music that YOU love best. They will also take requests from guests on the night, so long as the requests are appropriate. You’re the DJ for the entire evening. You start at the beginning, where people are just chilling and having their first few drinks. You’re an open format DJ, so you’re DJing just about any genre.

As a beginner, you may find yourself needing to prepare your sets for than when you are already experienced at playing live. If you feel like you get more comfortable at playing with less preparation you are free to do so. But if you struggle it is 100% okay to prepare for a DJ set. Some DJs offer a karaoke option so that you and your guests can take a more active role in the entertainments for the big day! Altogether now, Sweeeeeet Caroliiiiiine! When you’re preparing your set, you can get an idea of how long you’ll be playing every song on average. Opening DJ or Prime Time DJ Bringing live music / singing into DJ sets adds creative and visual interest, adding the ‘live’ feel but without the logistics of hosting a full live band. Most acts combine a human DJ with a live musician(s), but some ditch the DJ for a pre-arranged playlist over which the musicians perform live.

There are a couple of things to look at when trying to calculate how many songs there will be a DJ set. An example of this may be psytrance or trance which DJs often play for almost the entire song. How Many Songs Should I Have in My DJ Set Library?

This equates to a 32% discount, rather than a 35% discount, and this calculation is how the calculator is intended to be used. As an example, to more efficiently compute the discount described above: Not all genres are created equally. The song length of genres can vary a lot. As I mentioned, dance music is often longer in length than pop and hip-hop. There are multiple places where DJs get their music from.
