About this deal

If everyone used toothpaste tablets, in 1 year alone, by my calculations that is over 10,000 tons of weight that could be saved each year. That means fewer lorries moving product about and lower carbon emissions. The overall experience doesn’t quite live up to my Fifth Element fantasies, but I’m sure toothpaste in 1898 wasn’t much fun either. Smooth teeth: Due to the cellulose in the tab, your teeth are polished ultra-smooth even up to the interdental spaces. Therefore, new particles simply roll off the tooth surface. Coatings, also known as plaque, can practically not even arise. I tried three brands of tablet, and none advertised fluoride as an ingredient. In fact, in this space, many toothpaste tablets actively flaunt their fluoride-free status, and that’s a worry because research suggests fluoride-free oral care products, often marketed as “natural”, tend to increase cavities. One exception to this is German brand DentTabs, which does contain fluoride and is widely available online in Australia.

A great option, for those that want to avoid fluoride, they taste good, clean well and leave a lasting freshness. Any toothpaste used with a correct regular brushing routine, should in most cases remove the vast majority of staining on the outside surface of the teeth and will help keep your teeth clean. Travel/TSA approved– Small and compact, you can take what you need, rather than what a shop bought tube limits you too. The tablets do not generally count to your carry on allowance, making them TSA approved. Toothpaste tables are a fantastic alternative to traditional toothpaste, especially for the ultralight hiker. The following video is put together by Women’s Health magazine and is dedicated to Bite, a brand of tablet toothpastes. It gives a good overview of the situation and why they have come about.

WIth ulcers, it can take time for them to clear – 2 to 3 weeks is normal. If you need help managing the pain of the ulcers, it is worth seeing your dentist who may prescribe steroid mouthwash again to help manage them. Prescription recommendations for ulcers can be found here and you can discuss this with your dentist. They are incredibly simple to use. Pop one in your mouth and chew until your saliva breaks down the tablet and forms a paste just like regular toothpaste, then brush as you would normally.

We recommend 1 tab in the morning and 1 tab in the evening. To slowly approach the foam-free brushing experience, you can also use 2 tabs in the morning and 2 tabs in the evening for brushing. Should you ever feel like having a fresh breath during the day, you can also chew a tab in between and rinse. Brushd also makes bamboo interdental brushes. Although to be honest, I’m on the fence about bamboo interdental brushes. They’re made of mixed materials. This means they will have to be sent to landfill, where biodegradable materials do not break down. Bamboo isn’t native to Europe so it has to be shipped from abroad. This possibly gives it a bigger carbon footprint than a plastic interdental brush.Magnesium Stearate – is made from a reaction of Stearic Acid, (which is one of the most common forms of saturated fat in nature) and Magnesium Sulphate. It can be synthesised from many things, so plenty of it to go around no worries there. It is broken down very easily so not an environmental issue either. It is basically used to combine ingredients together evenly in tablets, rather than the mixture of chemicals lumping together unequally. This makes sure you get the same amount of ingredients in each tablet. Important stuff.
