About this deal

This is a strong family drama that focuses entirely on relationships, and some of those are quite interesting. The story takes a little while to get going but once the dynamics have been established it helps make the final third much more impactful. a b c Ross, Deborah (3 November 2011). "Martina Cole: 'I know I don't write literature' ". The Independent . Retrieved 5 November 2015. That’s all right, love. The Booker prize money wouldn’t even keep me in cigarettes.” ( The Guardian) The cover of this book describes it as a cross between Eastenders and the Sopranos. It kind of is like a 10-hour long episode of Eastenders, just darker and more violent without some comedy gingers for light relief.

stars. This is the first Martina Cole book I’ve read through a recommendation so not my usual style. As with Cole’s previous books, the chapters are fairly short and the style and flow of writing is easy to follow but it’s really just the same old stories and characters. Reeva O'Hara has to fight for everything.....she had her first child at 14 and by the time she hits her early twenties she has already produce a further 4 children. This is all such a shame from such a well respected author and I have read Martina Cole books previously and enjoyed them. When the bodies of missing schoolgirls start turning up, former DCI Kate Burrows is dragged out of retirement. She married for the first time aged 16, but the marriage only lasted a year. She had her first child at the age of 18. [3] Her parents both died when she was in her early 20s. [1] D.I. Kate Burrows is a woman with problems. Mothers are murdering their children, and her boyfriend — a local villain — has been shot by the Russian mafia. If that isn’t enough, her boss is inept and, at worst, a crook. Up to this point I rather liked Aiden. But as the years pass and he becomes a man, gradually he also becomes a monster. His need to control everyone he knows, most of all his family, becomes obsessive. A very wealthy criminal, Eric Palmer, whose fortune has been carved out from prostitution and drug dealing, takes Aiden under his wing and teaches him everything he knows. A serial killer is in town and the race is on for DCI Kate Burrows. Stop the killer before more innocent girls die...

Aiden O'Hara has always looked out for his family, ever since he was a wee laddie. His mother has something of a reputation and many children to different fathers. Aiden is fiercely protective and soon makes himself a name with the local face. Drugs, prostitution and murder are all things Aiden finds himself caught up in but it pays the bills and keeps his family safe. However as Aiden's reputation grows his arrogance and unpredictability grows with it turning Aiden from protector to a possible danger to his family and business. Most of her novels feature a female protagonist or antihero, and some take place within the Irish community in and around London. [4] I am in agreement with some other reviewers on here. How anyone can read this book and give it 5 stars is beyond me. I like a good thriller/crime story and this is none of the above.Since her 20s she has suffered from rheumatoid arthritis after breaking both arms as a child. The arthritis has worsened over time, and now makes it painful for her when writing. [16] [17] Books [ edit ] I am going to admit this: I am in two minds over Betrayal. I enjoyed the story and kept listening to the audiobook, but at the same time, I can't help but think that I had read this story before... Loyalty is everything and even more so when it's family, anything else will be the ultimate betrayal
