After the fragrance settles a bit, touches of carnation, geranium make themselves known along with a wonderful musky cedar base. A bit of smoky vetiver makes it even more attractive. The final stages are a warm and gentle musk and the cedar. It is just an incredibly well-done fragrance.

Wonderful article. It gave me a few tips what to try in summer. I live in Hungary, Middle Europe and summer is hot and sometimes rainy. Also I spend time in an air-conditioned office where warmer scents sometimes work better. Egyptian summer can be tragic for warm fragrances so I rely on my snuggly collection for fresh floral, soft green, cold musky, fluffy, flirty and fruity scents. Though I'm more of a winter lover I have to say catching fresh whiffs of sea breath tingling my tanned skin is a blessing. Currently I'm enjoying the taste of soft musk in Narciso Rodriguez Essence; immediately a cold wave of soft musk soothes my senses., I can feel the soapy rose accord dominating the entire development without being too floral allowing a beautiful musky theme to add purity of skin scent at the end. My go to fragrance this summer is Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Flora Rosa - it's "roses done right", delivering a true and balancing floral aroma dipped in sour tartness with a multifaceted accord of berries wheres you can feel a sweet and sour tinge at the end. For casual day use I'm a bit nostalgic wearing Lacoste Love of Pink and Versace Bright Crystal with the soft solar and powdery Fendi Fantasia Fendi yielding a clean and fresh aroma without feeling too generic. For a special summer evening I'm learning about Guerlain Eau de Shalimar, a sunnier version of the original Shalimar. The initial tart, sour start tends to be vintage-like while being condemned to act freshly enough for a warm evening; combining the sunny citrusy opening of lime with sour vanilla couldn't be better. Much like the Spanish Inquisition, as immortalised in the words of Monty Python, my weapons of choice are "fear and surprise, surprise and fear." They seem to work pretty well. When this particular product is first applied, bergamot, basil, lavender, rosemary and lemon come to the fore. Next middle notes of carnation, geranium, thyme, clary sage and pine move in. I am finding great comfort in SP Parfum's SP Parfums Sven Pritzkoleit Lemon Sorbet & Orange which is a surprising citrus fragrance. It focuses on citrus fruits with a lot of effects coming from synthetic molecules that give it the frozen element, and also calone, which I hate but is introduced in this formulation to great results. What I love the most is the icy effect it creates on my skin due to the strong presence of mint. I get that feeling of cooling, not in an olfactive way but in a clear tactile sensation. In the overall composition I love the oakmoss which gives it a chypre twist just like in vintage Eau de Courreges. Lemon Sorbet & Orange is my go to scent for this summer, but I am also wearing a lot of Calvin Klein Truth and thinking that this is a brand I have been exploring with great pleasure in different scents since I was 18. Summer is about versatility, so I’m always ready to shift gears and spray on something new as the weather shifts our needs, and we move from office to beachside. It’s a season where we attach ourselves closely with nature and perfume's beginnings. So my advice? Carry an airy, celebratory favorite with you (for me this year it’s been L’Aromatica’s Kulfi - a cardamom-infused coconut treasure,) and be one with the sun.

I also like wearing Carnal Flowe from Frederic Malle, the most beautiful tuberose on the market in my opinion which fits perfectly for summer or holidays, with its refined green and white flower breath that unveils all the facets of the tuberose. Dior Sauvage: This doesn't just smell soapy and clean but it's stunning! The new very cool spray is even perfect for women! The fact that I want to discuss Aqua di Selva here in my very first review is perhaps a little cheeky... you could just as well ask a lawyer for a qualified opinion on Mozart's Jupiter Symphony. This summer in Russia I am enjoying Christian Dior Sauvage Very Cool Spray - I use it every time when going to have a walk or before taking sunbaths near the sea: it refreshes perfectly and is very convenient to have in a travel bag (nothing will leak or break, if you know what I mean) or in the car; it became one of my favorites this warm summer when other body mists and colognes don't work. During my nights out I'm usually in the company of Eau Noire or modern Chamade - depending on the mood or occassion: their sillage makes others ask what perfume I am wearing, and makes me smile - but only me. Summertime in Greece is becoming hotter and hotter it seems, though we're quite accustomed to endless summer days when something light and bracing is best appreciated if one doesn't want to overwhelm their entourage and casual bystanders.

Summer is by far my favorite season and my perfume wadrobe attests to this. Of my 330+ perfumes I'd say 3/4ths are what I would dub "summery." I am one of those folks who loves a good airy, fresh, green or fruity summer scent. But as the dog days of summer intensify, and the mercury rises, I find myself reaching for my balsamy, vanilla, and frankly heavy scents. Sultry, that's what these fragrances are to me. A list of some of my favorite fragrances for summer. Sometimes I do crave sultry, spicy scents even during the day. My beloved Coco extrait and EDP work really well and just like John, I find Coromandel by Chanel also a surprisingly good match with the weather. For a lighter patchouli dose, I wear Coco Mademoiselle EDT and Miss Dior Cherie EDT (2011). They are sweet but still fresh enough to be enjoyed and lift my mood instantly. What I find safe as my go-to summer scent is Chance Eau Tendre hair mist. It has bright citrusy notes suitable for warmer days, and just enough floral notes blended in to make it more versatile just in case the temperature drops a few degrees. Hyacinth and iris brings up a green and waxy vibe, which always makes me feel composed and effortlessly chic. Why hair mist? Just because I get paranoid that perfume, sweat, sunscreen and sunlight just don’t mix well.Longevity from start to finish on my skin is about 4-5 hours, excellent for something that is an EDC. Sillage is light to moderate, so this fragrance is delightful and inoffensive to most people. You would have to douse yourself to overdo this one. A couple or three sprays in an office setting would give you a crisp, clean, and confident scent, that would last through most of the day.
