About this deal

Hitman 3's Dartmoor benchmark is very demanding on the CPU and the 12700H here has a clear lead on other processors, again up around the 25% mark compared to the best Ryzen result and even higher on past Intel models. See http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/architecture-and-technology/hyper-threading/hyper-threading-technology.html?wapkw=hyper+threading for more information including details on which processors support Intel® HT Technology.

The laptop features a 12th Gen Intel i7-12700H processor, which has 14 cores and a max boost speed of ABC, so you can expect your laptop to run through demanding tasks like gaming, video editing, and 3D rendering. Plus, paired with it, you have the NVIDIA RTX 3070 Ti graphics card, which should give you slightly better performance than the RTX 3070.

Adobe After Effects is another mixed CPU and GPU workload. The 12700H acts like a beast significantly outperforming previous generation setups. We're looking at a 25% performance uplift compared to 11800H and 5900HX systems using RTX 3070 graphics, which isn't unusual compared to previous charts but it's a great result nonetheless.

If we compared one chip at 75W to another at 60W, we'd really only be comparing which specific laptop design can send the most power to the CPU, not which CPU actually performs better, which is why we test like this. Boost PL2 power is set to Intel's default of 115W in both instances. However, with the rest of the memory kits offering either strong bandwidth performance or respectable latency, we're looking at no more than an 11% difference between the fastest and slowest kits. DDR4-4000 CL18 using gear 1 did provide the best results, but DDR4-3200 and 3600 CL16 also beat out all DDR5 kits. A great option is HP Laptop 15S, which features Windows 11, an AMD Ryzen™ 5 5500U processor, 8 GB DDR4-3200 SDRAM, 512 GB SSD, and additional features. Our 15S model is also one of the best laptops for students thanks to the prolonged last battery life, speed, screen size, and range of other great benefits. Building your business? Don't do it without HP business laptops Code compilation is a strong point for the Core i7-12700H, enhanced through the upgrade to DDR5 memory, which we expect to be used across the majority of 2022's gaming laptops (Alder Lake also supports DDR4).

Intel is able to extend its lead when looking in the 75W power class. The 12700H is 36% faster than the 11800H here, and is now beating the Ryzen 7 5800H by 33%, up from a mid-20s improvement in the lower power class. Intel to Bid Farewell to LGA1366 with Core i7-995X Extreme Edition". techpowerup.com. April 5, 2011 . Retrieved March 14, 2020. But like in Handbrake, when the 12700H is given 75W of juice to work with, it can accelerate beyond the other processors we've looked at to post quite an impressive score that makes this new generation well suited to CPU rendering. The other thing I wanted to show your is the Effects score, not as much of a dominant lead here, but when using effects in Premiere, the 12700H configurations are the best you can get right now.

Universal cable connectivity for a simple, reliable connection that provides incredible performance. Integrated graphics save power, since there's no extra graphics chip on your laptop's or desktop's motherboard drawing juice. Intel's integrated graphics solutions work well for mainstream productivity and display (including multidisplay) tasks. Both Iris Plus and Iris Xe can rival the capabilities of a low-end discrete GPU like Nvidia's GeForce MX series. Example 2: Need a list of processors to compare with maximum Turbo Frequency of 5.60 GHz and higher. All models support up to DDR5-5200, LPDDR5-6400, DDR4-3200, or LPDDR4X-4266 memory, and up to 28 lanes of PCI Express 5.0/4.0. DDR4-2933 offers a bit performance boost as it increased bandwidth by almost 30%, while DDR4-3200 using slightly weaker timings only improves bandwidth by a further 2%. Beyond this point, the improvements for DDR4 are fairly minimal and going from 3200 to 4000 we're looking at a 15% increase. That's not nothing, but for a 25% increase in frequency, that's not a big jump which is explained by increased timings.

Our test platforms for today were kindly provided by XMG and their partner Uniwill. The two designs we have on hand should be widely used across various OEMs. We can't tell if these specific ones will become XMG products, but other companies like Eluktronics use these sorts of laptops and you should see them available for sale soon.

In general, all else being equal, a CPU that supports Hyper-Threading in a given family will be more capable than one that does not, if what you do day to day is heavily influenced by this feature. This is even true between Core families, which means that it may be better, if your software relies heavily on multithreading, to choose a four-core chip with Hyper-Threading over an equivalent six-core without. One of the most important features of a CPU is its core and thread count. A core is a physical processor within the CPU which can be seen on the chip itself. A thread, on the other hand, is a virtual core (essentially a partition of the physical core) designed to help the CPU handle multiple tasks. Where Alder Lake seems to struggle is in power consumption for single-thread and burst workloads, where the M1 is clearly more efficient, but that's down to Intel operating these parts well outside the efficiency window. I think the tools are there for Alder Lake to shine in low power laptop designs, it just needs an OEM to complement this with an efficiency-optimized product with great tuning, rather than a brute force performance system like the majority of H-series laptops. Shopping Shortcuts Moving to 1440p neutralizes the test results with the exception of the gear 2 mode for the DDR4-2400 memory which dropped the average frame rate by 13%.All models support: SSE4.1, SSE4.2, AVX, AVX2, FMA3, Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology (EIST), Intel 64, XD bit (an NX bit implementation), Intel VT-x, Intel VT-d, Hyper-threading, Turbo Boost 3.0 (2.0 for embedded), AES-NI, Smart Cache, Thread Director, DL Boost, GNA 3.0, and Optanememory. Conducting benchmarks in this way gives you the most useful information that can be applied to a wide range of laptops. If you're buying a thinner and lighter system, the 45W numbers will be most important, while those after a beefier system with more cooling power should look at 75W. Most of the latest Intel Core i5 and Core i7 CPUs have four or more cores, which is what we consider the sweet spot for most mainstream users. Many late-model desktop Core i5 and Core i7 chips have six cores, and a few ultra-high-end gaming PCs come with eight-core Core i7s. Meanwhile, a few ultra-low-power laptop Core i5 and Core i7 CPUs have just two. You'll find these mainly in ultra-thin laptops. June 8, 2018). The Core i7-12700H is an impressive laptop processor that's set to bring a sizable performance upgrade to many mid-range and high-end laptops.
